Company Car Tax being charged twice?

My hubby was made redundant earlier this year. His end date of employment was the 1st August. He had a company car, fuel benefit and medical insurance. Whilst he was working, his tax code was reduced to take into account his company benefits. We have notified HMRC of all of this and they have adjusted his tax code but are still reducing it by the proportion of company car and fuel benefits he received even though he was taxed at the time.
My hubby has spoken to them 3 times already and just can't seem to get them to understand. Does anyone have any advice?

That isn't what I was saying. We are both perfectly happy to pay our taxes thank you very much and always have done. We just misunderstood how the tax code system worked and didn't want to be paying twice. Again your judgement of our intentions is way off the mark. Perhaps think about how you reply to people in future.2

You know nothing of the conversations that were had with HMRC. There were changes they had been notified of and not actioned and we were given incorrect information about forms that the employer needed to complete so perhaps you can appreciate that we didn't have confidence in them. It has been an incredibly stressful time for us and we are just trying to sort ourselves out and move forward and have been met with patronising and rude comments when we were genuinely asking for help. People seem to forget that there is a human behind the comment.0

I'll be honest there are some comments made to the OP are a bit over the top. We have people in work who are well educated but don't fully understand the BiK tax scheme.
