Anyone found any good gluten free ones please?
Not sure that is ever going to happen! GF bread is claggy and will choke you if you can unstick it from the roof of your mouth.

We will look back on this gravy mayonnaise trend in years to come and realise that COVID wrecked our collective tastebuds.

Sorry MSE. Nothing that looks festive here in the sandwiches way. I don't think they think the country bumpkins/tourists are worth it.

I have noticed that the cheese and onion I adored is now more mayo than cheese and not as good and more expensive. So I bought the ingredients and make my own. Ditto the pasta pots. Gone up in price and not as good so it takes minutes to make one with fresh stuff.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Not a festive sandwich, but I've occasionally had the Morrisons Chicken Salad with Gluten-free bread (it's often one of the last remaining).   It's okay - the bread is light with a very airy, dry spongey texture.   Not unpleasant, but could make something better myself.

I've never eaten a supermarket sandwich that has tasted better than one I've made myself, they are there to fill rather than to delight. It may be different for those who eat meat.
Except after having a roast dinner I wouldn't have the turkey, stuffing, bacon and sausage on hand to make a Christmas sandwich. Therefore a shop-bought Christmas sandwich will always be better than I can make for myself because I don't have the ingredients and the cost to produce them would be prohibitive. Except on the 27 December when I do have leftovers to make sandwiches.

Tesco turkey with all the trimmings- inoffensive but quite sweet.

Thought I'd spend my Advantage points on a Boots meal deal yesterday. Went for the 'Christmas collection' but think I'll try the wrap next time

  • @MSE_James - you sure have a dedication to this cause!

I read recently that a brie and cranberry sandwich microwaved for a few seconds is a thing of delight. Sold by M&S and Waitrose, they'd need a yellow sticker before I look in that direction!

Due to being out longer than planned today, I had to buy lunch. I went for the M&S Turkey Shawarma - it was very nicely spiced and flavoursome. Also a lot less fat content compared to some of the other offerings.
