Left mid month what should be my final pay

Hi,
My yearly salary is £28k. Gross monthly is £2333.33. I got paid for whole of  October 24 on 15th October. I left on 16th October (worked 12 days in the month). How much do I owe the employer? Also, do I pay full NI, Tax and pension contribution if I worked half month?

    Depends - but roughly 50%

I'm also assuming you didn't give any type of notice
  • yeah, I would also assume 50% but they are asking more!...

how much are they asking you to pay back - also have they broken it down?

What they should do is issue a final pay slip with reversals for all the transactions.
  • they wrote to me that I owe £1184.61 for the 11 days I did not work (17th Oct-31st Oct), they did not break it down...

    They may be correct

How many working days did you do in Oct and how many would make a full month ?

    Mon-Fri   = 23 for Oct

so 11/23 of 2333 is roughly right (doing the maths
    in my head)
  • I worked 12 working days in October out of 23 working days

I get it to be £1115 owed -- I would def ask for a breakdown (unless you cba for the sake of £70)

£28k / 260 working days in the year * 11 days to recover equals £1184.61 so pretty straight forward by the looks of how they got to their number.

The challenge there would be that if they paid you for the whole month, you will have paid tax and NI on that amount. So are they adjusting for that? I don't believe they can retrospectively give you the NI back, but maybe the tax.

What about pension contributions, did they also give you 50% more there than they should have done?
