Hi

My wife and I have our house up for sale. A search with land registry shows that we have an interim charging order against the property for a small amount with a company called FV-1. inc from 2008.

This company are uncontactable. We’ve asked Land registry to remove the charge but the can’t as it was placed on the property via a court order. The court don’t have any details of the order any more as it was archived due to GDPR and we are stumped and can’t sell until it’s resolved.
We’ve spoken with all the companies linked to FV-1 online including Morgan Stanley, GE Money, Global dent financial but none have got details of the debt.

has anyone had this issue in recent years and could help point us in the direction of who it may be?

Paging @Land_Registry. 

There must be a way of finding out who they now are or possibly a way of removing a charge for an entity that no longer exists in any form.

Only way to get a charge 'discharged'/redeemed in such cases is either a form DS1 from the creditor who can prove they own the debt OR go to court and get a judge to sift through the evidence and order that it's dismissed.
Our role isn't to sit in judgement re such matters so it needs to be clear cut for us on application. It's the court who has the 'judgement' role
