As I understand it, Nutmeg have their own investments, not generally traded funds, so you won't be able to transfer investments to ii anyway.
If you select cash transfer, once Nutmeg receive the transfer request from ii, Nutmeg will sell the investments on your behalf and then transfer the cash to ii. You'll then be able to buy the funds you are interested in.
You will be out of the market for a while (a couple of weeks or so), so might miss out on a bit of growth, but equally could win the game if the market drops while you are out of it.1 -

Although the whole transfer process could take anything from a couple of days to a few weeks, you would expect/hope that the conversion of investments to cash by Nutmeg would not happen until towards the end of the process.
More of an issue usually is that the OP/client may take some time to pick their new investments in II. It can often naturally make people nervous they are picking investments correctly.0 -
Nutmeg should have a formal complaints process. you could also try asking to message to someone higher up in the structure.

Nutmeg has refused the transfer request on the basis that the names on the accounts don't match. I changed my name by deed poll a few months ago and notified nutmeg of the change. At the time I got a message saying they'd updated it and it's been showing correctly on the online platform ever since, so why have they blocked the request?Only nutmeg can answer that. Sometimes it can be very little difference. Sometimes minor errors in set up (more common with auto-enrolment schemes). For example, someone with both their first and middle names in the first name box. Sometimes middle name missing with one but held by the other. Sometimes minor spelling errors. Or hyphened names where one has both names but didn't put the hyphen in.If they decide to keep blocking the transfer is there anything I can do?There is no reason why they would continue to refuse to transfer once the error is corrected.

It's strange because the name looks 100% correct on my Nutmeg dashboard. Is it definately correct on the II side?If not, that could suggest that Nutmeg uses two partly linked databases, one that is customer facing, and one that is internal only. If the internal one hasn't been correctly changed, you can get these sort of issues.I had this with a Government portal once, and it took several to and fro's to convince the technical people of the problem - they saw one set of details only, but they didn't match the customer end, which normally the back staff didn't see. Therefore "computer said no"1

Have you made a formal complaint to Nutmeg (they should have a procedure somewhere on the site)? You would have to go through that before bringing in the Ombudsman. I doubt the ICO could help, as it's not a problem of them leaking the data externally, just internal problems.0
