64 in a couple of weeks.
Jacked it in as the employment grind was starting to do my head in (metrics, Microsoft teams, more form filling, etc) and I'm noticeably less mobile than I once was.
I hope I have done the right thing but state pension is 2.5 years away and that is my first target.
Wish me luck

Good luck! Do you have a plan??

I've known a number of people in your position - some have elected to get a small job, maybe a couple of days a week on the tills at Tesco or similar. Others are now volunteers with charities. Or taking art classes. It helps to put structure on your week either way.

You haven't mentioned your state pension forecast, and whether you have any NI gaps.

I wouldn't say I have a concrete plans - but I have a number of financial options - as I have a mortgage free house and my sister has a mortgage free house and our parents while still alive are leaving the house to us when they finally pass.k6chris said:Good luck! Do you have a plan??

How are you paying your daily expenses such as Elec\Gas Council tax\food?
What are you going to do 12 hrs a day if no job?
Become a couch potatoe?
Are you married?
Any hobbies?
You need all the luck IMHO

Congratulations and Good luck.
I can understand your desire to leave the workplace if you have had to use Microsoft Teams! You have my sympathies.
Do you have any other pension provision or are you going to live off your savings?
You might find that paid work is more appealing when it carries few responsibilites.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0 -
I think you'll be fine, you find loads of things to do and wonder how you ever had time to work.
Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.2 -

Good luck - What's the old adage "Running away from someone isn't rushing towards something."
Congratulations on getting out. Taking your time back is freeing. Work is a pain and a bit of a waste of time I used to rent my displeasure for cash.
Now you're out what are you going to do with your time?
From those few sentences can I humbly suggest you look at activity. From about 50 onwards muscles start to waste so one needs to work out just to maintain muscle tone. If you've had a desk orientated job like me you'll have stiff hips, weak back etc. Perhaps it's time to look at yoga, regular walks, swimming or cycling? Whatever is your jam for a bit of movement and getting the heart beating. NOw you have all this time optimise yourself to enjoy it.4 -
I have my an army pension and I have some cash saved which should last the 30 months to getting my state pension.blindman said:

Single and bills are max £560 - if push come to shove I can ditch sky and/or virginmedia.
My sister floated the idea of us selling our houses and buying one to share nearer our parents (who are now firmly in their 80s)
My company pension which is not high is there for backup - Ill leave that to fester.
Hobbies and killing time are the main issue I need to resolve - may need to join some local group/organisation
