Verifying identity to receive Payment, being unsecure

Has anybody else experienced this as i don't know what to do. I had an endowment policy mature which was with Reassure part of The Phoenix Group. I filled out the paperwork but they now want proof of who i am, asking me to send a copy of my drivers license and a copy of a bank statement. They have no digital verification system and state email is unsecure despite the fact i can send it encrypted. They want me to send both docs in the post, given a drivers license has your name, address, DOB, signature, along with a bank statement, if that was intercepted anyone can use that info to fraudulently apply for credit cards, loans etc, Given i have been the victim of identity theft and 15 years on still getting issues am not prepared to do this. How can a financial institution be giving out such instructions, its ridiculous to suggest this is secure. They offer no alternative and wont pay me. any advice welcome

How did the driving licence get to you in the first place? Was that not by post?0

At least it's copies & not originals.
Sorry but if you want your money, you are going to have to comply.Life in the slow lane0 -
Send them recorded delivery. Doesn't 100% ensure security, but it adds a degree of certainty that it will get there and not go astray.0
