Lendable Home Visit Letter

Hello, I have a letter for Lendable that says they will make a personal visit to my home to get back in touch with me. I had stopped paying the monthly amounts and not contacted them at all, hoping they would default first before I could tell them my situation. I'm thinking I write to them with my situation at this stage - I have a big HMRC debt and will be doing £1 token payments until this is cleared. Is this a letter before action?

That letter is NOT a letter before action.
The person who will knock at the door has no more rights than the paper boy.
You can write to Lendable and tell them you don't want any door knockers or you can let them come. If you do answer the door to them just tell them you are not dealing with anyone on the doorstep and close the door.
If you are not in they will leave a card and may or may not try again.
Don't get involved with them they are just trying to get more money out of you. Just ignore them.
If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0 -
I'm not a fan of token payments. Just delays things.
I think your plan to treat HMRC as priority and ignore the others till they default is a good one. There's no reason for this letter to change the plan.0 -
OK yes I hadn't appreciated that I might still get door knockers, I definitely want to avoid that. I'll try and get in touch and see if they will not come once I tell them, I haven't told them about HMRC yet.
Can I ask about token payments and why that's not the best way please?Debt owed

Token payments just prolong the agony. wait for defaults and then when you are in a position to start payments ( not when your creditors want you to pay) carry on from there. If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0

I had to ask Lendable to default me, and even then they seemed really reluctant, I told them in an email that I would resume affordable repayments only once a default had been issued, and backdated to my 3rd missed payment. They did this. My debt is still with them and has not been sold on 2 years after defaulting, but it's plodding along now.0

Defaults clear from your credit record after 6 years, even if you still owe money.
Arrangements to Pay only clear 6 years after the debt is paid off. In your case £1 payments could damage your credit rating for a lot longer.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I wouldn't let the mention of a home visit affect your plans. They have no more rights than a double glazing salesman, if you just ignore them you will probably just get a card and they might not even bother trying again.

Yes I wanted to do token payments after a default, so I'll write to them about my tax debt and ask if they'll default me.Debt owed
