Mortgage additional borrowing-valuation

We've recently requested additional borrowing to renovate our house. I have received a random text message stating that my lender has requested a valuation using Legal and General survey services.
- I did not receive any communication from the mortgage lender alerting me that they instructed LGSS, is this normal?
-Is it worth doing anything to the house in advance of this survey?
-I've heard horror stories about LGSS- could we negotiate someone else?

Depends on lender. Some might tell you, some won't.
Probably not.
Probably not. Lenders don't like the valuation process being interfered with by brokers nor applicants.I am a mortgage broker. If it was a random and unexpected text I would ring them to find out if they actually sent it on the off chance that it is spam of some sort.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards.
