Does it take the magic away?????

last year i had the first wave of presents wrapped by the end of October!
By Christmas Eve everything was wrapped - and I managed to go to bed at a decent time!
I have spent so many Christmas's overtired because of the Christmas eve wrapping marathon!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
Ooooo I love the wrapping but after doing a certain amount, it gets on my nerves a little. So I never leave it until Christmas Eve. I start as soon as the decs are up (early December), and just do a couple every now and again in an evening spreading it out over abour a week - sat in front of the TV, christmas lights on.... except when I do hubby's pressies obviously!! lol This year is different though with a baby due mid December, but as I'll be on maternity leave from the end of Nov I'll spend the first few days of December doing the decorating and wrapping within about 3 days...just incase.... baby could come anytime!
Got some pressies already for this year, but we tend to do lists in our family, so getting early lists from people is a bit like pulling teeth! Got a DVD my aunt mentioned though, plus some toys for hubby's counsins kids... so it's a start!!

I dont think that it takes the magic out of it, i like it coz its still august and im getting to think about christmas and people's birthdays. We all get each other so many presents that its better this way spreading it out, and we do give each other lists so i am just buying things that i know they will like but will wait to get most of the dvds and cds until they give me the lists nearer the time.
I dont leave all my wrapping till christmas eve either as we all go out for a meal and to the pub on that night, besides all through the month of december we have a steady flow of presents turning up under the tree.
very excited about doing my first hampers this year and other ideas that i have got off the other threads.Everybody Wants To be Happy.......Nobody Wants Any pain......But You Can't Have a Rainbow........Without Any Rain !!

i wrap all extended familys presents in late november/early december due to having to dish them all out!
dh's pressies will be wrapped as soon as i get them to stop him peeking.
ds and dd's pressents will be put together/wrapped on xmas eve as we have to store them all at the inlaws and they drop them around on xmas eve after the monsters have gone to bed.
we usually put on a xmas film, open the champagne, i take care of the wrapping (not one of dh's strong points - he is a man afterall!!) and he puts together what ever needs doing.
on ds's 1st xmas everything was wrapped so i decided to help dh by putting together a trike. i am now banned as i managed to hammer the brake on backwards and it couldnt be removed!! lol!
luckily ds wasnt impressed with it anyhow and he never used it, as whenever you leaned forward you fell straight onto your face oops!
but anyways back to the thread in hand, i dont think it takes the magic away as although i start buying and wrapping early, there is always something xmassy to be done at the last minute!0 -
Wrapping is something I always think will be so much more fun that it actually is. I have a little fantasy of sitting under the tree with the fire burning wrapping gifts. However the reality is after a couple of items it gets tedious. I plan to get it bought and wrapped early this year, but will have a december shopping trip to wander round town and absorb the atmosphere and listen to the carols playing with no pressure as nothing really to buy by then :-)
this is me completely i have a wonderful fantasy about Christmas lights, carols playing and hot chocolate whilst wrapping pressies but it never ends up like that, i end up so fed up and frustrated wrapping things that I have decided to wrap pressies as I finish each person.:jBack on the moneysaving wagon:T:j:T0 -
does it take the magic away? NO!
Does it mean you are not running around like a maniac? hopefully yes!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
I agree with posters above, I LOVE the idea of wrapped but the reality of it is, that the first 4 or 5 presents look lovely with matching tags, ribbon and bag, but then I simply get bored and start to get uncomfy sitting down for so long.
I enjoy getting presents all year round as I simply wouldn’t put the money away to buy it all in December, plus you do save money one some things. I am the same as others, I tend to buy stocking fillers and bits all year round then leave kids presents till nearer the time. Plus doing bits of shopping throughout the year fulfils my craving to go shopping. If I wasn’t doing this, I would be shopping for tatt constantly, so at least its productive.
I do tend to leave my wrapping until after I come back from my late summer holiday (end of Sept / beginning of October) and then do bits at a time when I put a Christmas movie on and just relax. I don’t need any help with getting in the Crimbo mood!!
I have before left a few (i.e. 10 presents to do when I get in from Xmas Eve party ) and it ruined my night as it took me ages and they looked rubbish – I would like to be all done and wrapped by beginning of December to allow me to go to Carol Singing Concerts, do baking and generally relaxing whilst other, not-so-organised people rush around.0 -
