NHS Deferred Pension - Normal Retirement

How soon before NRD should the forms be sent in to NHS Pensions to claim a pension so that it kicks in from NRD. It’s not a large amount, family member may decide to take a trivial payment as old LTA Value (20xPension plus PCLS) is about £7,000 so well under £30,000. DC Pensions elsewhere under £10,000.

Minimum seems to be 3 months. I'd say 3-6 months.
It does say 30 days here https://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/current-processing-times-nhs-pensions but that seems hopeful looking at what I am hearing.
They will need to complete form AW8P, I've been told that for trivial commutation you counter intuitively request the minimum lump sum.1 -

I have seen form AW8P on line so she will complete it and send it off in December for a March 2025 retirement which should be sufficient - given the small amounts it isn’t life changing!0
