Morning allThanks for starting us off GersRain seems to be clearing which is good as I'm off to London this morning. I booked a ticket with my MP to go and watch PMQs a couple of months ago and that was cancelled because of the General Election so have tried again and today's the day! Looking forward to looking round Parliament too. Hope the trains are on time as if you're not there at a specific time to collect your ticket it can be given to someone else.Hope everyone has a good day x10

Morning Gers, thanks for starting us off.
Dark and dreary here, yesterday's thunderstorms didn't happen but we did get heavy rain most of the afternoon and evening.
Just the usual chores to do today, and dog walking between the forecast showers. Thinking of the people in Florida, news reports don't sound good.
Ruby, you have made me fancy gammon, haven't had it in ages, think I'll pick one up this week.
Hugs to all our sad and poorlies, love to all x9 -
Morning...MIA yesterday, got caught up with one thing or another. The tiler came, grouted the bathroom and put the matting down in the extension bit, he'll be back Friday I think. He's a brilliant tiler but it's also a bit like having a kid, I'm sure he's adhd. Car had to stay in hopsital overnight until they sort out a new part [ I would say never ever buy a new diesel, stick with petrol, adblue problems seem to be ubiquitous no matter what car it is. Today a friend is coming round, [no builders today] and I have plan to clean everything and organise it a bit better, and possibly go to the allotment if it stops raining and put some membrane down.camelot, fingers crossed the tablets get rid of it! Ruby, glad Rob made it this time..good idea re the laminated card, on the fridge it goes...Grs, with you on the snag tights, they're great, it's lovely to have ones that are long enough so I'm not pulling them up all the time. Nanny, poor bloke, is their system computerised? I've not really had a problem with mine but I think that's because the pharmacy is actually in the doctors so if there is any back and fore'ing, it's quite quick...Take care folks, chin up, seize the day....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi9

Good morning, thanks for starting Gers. I'm later than usual this morning, I actually had a fairly good night's sleep. after a run of bad nights.
It's raining here, rained most of yesterday as well.
I've got stuff I need to be doing in the house today, so not planning to go out.
Chrisca, sounds as if you are going to have an interesting day - hope your trains are on time.
Hope everyone has a good day, take care folks.9 -
Morning all
Been raining most of the night and we are due some for most of the day too I am off to collect Rob so it’s a good job we are inside, I ended up just having two people yesterday as just after I posted my lady phoned in sick but we went for a walk and then the Birthday boy wanted to go into a couple of shops before his McDonald’s lunch which he seemed to enjoy.
I have to do the shopping on the way home tonight so dinner will be a surprise but I’m thinking maybe sausage and mash, Remmie the gammon was delicious I got a big joint from Lidl for about £5 and we have had five meals off of it so far and enough meat for a carbonara for the three of us in the freezer so good value.
I have made a good start on the Christmas stocking fillers I always struggle with them so am pleased to have at least started, I am going shopping with dd in a few weeks so hope to do a lot more then.
I shall see Robs mum this morning and give her the laminated card and hope it works, Remmie I think she probably is lonely and wants to chat, and I don’t want to sound mean but I don’t want to have two long phone calls from her each week and she repeats the same thing over and over, I try to give her solutions to her problems such as her laptop is broken so I said why don’t you get a taxi to curry’s etc and buy a new one - her answer was well what if they don’t have the one I want, she has no food most of the time so I told her to get a taxi to Mr T and do a shop but she said she can’t be bothered, I’m afraid I need to put a stop to the phone calls for my sanity 😬 she has a grown up daughter and several grown grandchildren who she could call so I need to take a step back.
Have good days all and take care xx9 -
Morning all from Mehefinland
Another foray in to the attic produced more treasures, most of which have now been binned. Amongst them were 3 brand new, still in box safety shoes. A great find I thought until I opened them- the leatherwork was pristine, but the soles had completely disintegrated into piles of black granules. All 3 boxes were the same. I think it is a combination of hot and cold in the attic and the age of the footwear - they must have been put there over 25 years ago. Naive of me to think they may still be usable lol. Also amongst the finds were 5 table tennis balls still in boxes, another dose of slides, a whole bag of DS's baby clothes!! ( sorted them, washed and offered on FB, being collected today), an album of first day covers, and lots of various kitchen bits including an unused tefal small frying pan, and an egg poacher which had unfortunately gone rusty.
Walked Cooperdog the Corgi for my friend yesterday. He just loves chasing ball, and really flies along. Those big corgi ears go flat - I did wonder if they would act like airbrakes.
My attic antics have spurred my friends on to start looking at some of their 'stuff' and they showed me some of it yesterday afternoon - i think they need a trip to the antiques emporium in Cardiff. None of the family wants it - it seems so common a response these days. Younger folk don't seem to have the sentiment as we oldies do.
Sun has just come through so I might attck a few more brambles later, although the ground is sodden.
Hugs and spoons as always
Mehefin aka Derek

Morning all, I'm up early as I had a bad night (it may be a reaction to yesterdays flu jab) so I'm shattered before I start today. Anyway I promised to take Dad shopping to Aldis this morning and it'll be the first time we have taken him out so I'm hoping we can get him in our car as it's rather high up. I struggle to get into it sometimes as I'm vertically challenged and Dad is not much taller than me plus his left leg is still not working properly. I'll probably need a nana nap this afternoon.
Ruby there are some people who you can't help so taking a step back will be the right thing to do for you.
taff all the surgeries and pharmacies seem to be in a bit of a mess with prescriptions around here. Have a nice non builder day with your friend.
Take care and hugs to all.

Morning everyone
It's been raining since yesterday afternoon and looks set for the day today, very strong winds too.
Chrisca - sounds like a really interesting day, I would love to visit parliament.
Little one has been going to school till 1pm and is very happy to be back. She goes home and straight to bed for a nap, but is managing fine. She is on a trip with her class this morning, to our town hall to watch a performance - of what I don't know!
Still trying to sort out the two respite afternoons for my mam....going to phone dad's care manager again.
Other than that, all is well.
Hope everyone has a good day x

Morning folks and thanks GERS. It's on the dull side here but not raining. Though I think light showers are forecast. As they were yesterday but stayed away most of the day and then we had a torrential downpour from nowhere. It was so heavy it was totally missing the guttering and pouring down the front window like Niagara Falls .fortunately it only lasted a couple of minutes and moved on. The forecast for Florida is still sounding horrendous and I hope people are heeding all the warnings but there are always those who think they know best and are refusing to evacuate their homes.
SIL's funeral plans are now in place with everything booked for the 23rd. I can't say I am looking forward to it but I would be a strange one if I was looking forward to it!
After I couldn't find something last week and was like somebody demented rummaging through stuff, I decided I have kept lots of unnecessary paperwork for too long and must start shredding a lot of it. Maybe a job for today.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need. CHRISCA I hope all the trains run to time and you get to the H of C in good time. Take care all, be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"8 -
Made it. I was sorely tempted to spend more time in bed though I really don't like lingering, so here I am, all shiny and alert.A little light washing of delicates was done yesterday. Bras and tights in mesh bags mostly. Yes, @taff - snag tights cover ones behind and go right up to the waist so that good tucking in can take place. Hate a cold small of back. I also made some cucumber salad, not the whole lot as I knew I'd eat it all. My final burst of activity was to replace four ink cartridges in my printer - should have worn gloves as my fingers are now multi-coloured.Late in the afternoon I fancied a scone, no idea why I don't particularly like them, so drove over to the canal sea basin for one. The scones there are huge, look lovely and taste of scone.
Won't be doing that again.
@Chrisca - you'll really enjoy the tour of Parliament, it's fascinating. I did it many years ago when I had a friend who was an MP (retired now). We ended up in a bar having a drink and talking with Tony Benn. That was fascinating too. And, enjoy PMQs too.@Scarlet - a good night is simply a blessing.@Ruby - perhaps Rob's Mum's children are as fed up with her as you are - such a difficult situation all round.@Mehefin - I know all about long forgotten 'treasures' after clearing out my beloved late DM's place in 2021. Not sure that I have recovered from it. Getting rid of a loved one's belongings, especially when they've had them for over 60 years in my case, is really traumatic. For one cupboard I had to get a friend to do it without me as I couldn't face it - bags of ribbons, string, wrapping paper etc. I've learnt my lesson from that!Today is open to everything. Rain? Sun? Wind? No idea but whatever it is will be fine. Hope that everyone is doing OK.7
