having read a little in the group here is my letter i am going to send.
Dear ACI,
I am writing in response to your letter, which was sent without a date and has the reference number [ref number]. A copy is attached for your reference.
I have no knowledge of any debt being owed to ACI, nor do I have any knowledge of having an account with HFC Bank Limited.
If you do not cease collection activities while investigating my dispute, you will be in violation of FCA rules and guidance. Additionally, ignoring claims that accounts are in dispute and continuing to make unjustified demands for payment constitutes harassment.
Please provide evidence of my liability for the alleged debt, or send me written confirmation that this matter is now closed.
If no evidence is provided and you continue to send collection letters or attempt to collect payment, I will impose a £115 charge for every subsequent letter sent after this one.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
[My name]07/10/2024

Yes, I don't think your charges for letter writing will stand up but best of luck with that.
Not sure if HFC still exist. They went bust over 7 years ago, leading to the suspicion that whatever this is, and whoever's it is, it s probably statute barred0 -
I was going to say the same as fatbelly, HFC Bank provided credit cards, but went into liquidation in 2017.
The prove-it letter is probably better worded, as nice as receiving £115 a time for letter writing would be, I doubt they will take much notice of that.

Hi, I have sent the prove it letter to aci for hfc collections. They replied saying it's on hold and are trying to get the credit agreements. Do they have a set time for this as it's been over 2 weeks now? What do I do next? Regards in advance0

Is this in response to a fishing letter. If so do not respond further. Is is close to being statute barred?
If you were paying, have you stopped paying? If not, stop now and put the money aside for a while. They can come back months later, or may write advising that the debt is unenforceable. At that expect them to remind you that it still exists, is collectable.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
