Personally I hate the gender bit on these things as there's no reason a little girl might like a cowboy puzzle and a boy a fairy one. But I know that lots of little boys and girls do like the typical stuff and getting anything is a joy in any case.
The Range is good for inexpensive arts and crafts stuff. Crayons are great for kids with coloured pencils for the older ones perhaps. My art teacher (professional) gets a lot of her supplies there.
Hobbycraft has great bundles of things - they currently have 3 A5 sketchbooks (so blank, and decent quality) for £4.50 but with a 3 for 2 deal. Suncatcher kits for £1 each. Lots of deals to be had plus a £5 off if you spend £15. Poster paint for £1 (get red, yellow & blue and they can make any colour they want).
I'd avoid buying anything much at Tescos or similar as I think they're really overpriced in comparison. But you might do well in middle of Lidl or Aldi. I've got some great wacky art stuff at Lidl in the past.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. The Works can be pretty good for craft supplies too, either the usual paints/pencils/pens or also some quite nice crafting kits. I’ve just got a couple of ‘make your own fairy nightlights’ kits from there for £7 each which seem very good value.1

Thanks for the reply it’s hard to know what to get a specific gender as a female who likes football. I am trying to think of non gender specific puzzles for 5-6 years olds0

agree re non-gender specific - eg map puzzles / space etc
places like the range / poundland /home bargains / B&M / Proper Job are all good for craft stuff - crayons / card / glitter pens / stickers / coloured papers / glue / notebooks /1 -
Hobbycraft has almost continually offers on loads of craft supplies.I Get emails from them on a daily basis3

I’d be going more gender neutral as well, even on the girls and boys ones.I hated pink and fluffy and would have been far more interested in the construction toys that girls never used to get.
It’s easier for girls to be accepted with “boys” things then it is for boys to have the “girly” ones, which is sad. I would probably try to avoid puzzles which are too stereotypical if you can.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.2 -
Maybe a wizard and cowboy puzzle for the boy and a fairy for the girl as well as something else as I already have these then if they like the “stereotypes” they have a puzzle with the stereotypes and if they don’t they have another option

Personally as someone who works with children aged between 4 and 8 years of age, I wouldn't ho down the silly gender neutral route.
Out if all the children I have worked with, ghe girls always go to the "girly" items and the bits to the "boys" items. Very very very rarely will they go to the opposite sex specific toys.
What you have us great for the children. Don't be forced to think otherwise, buy what you think the children will like.
Regarding art supplies, The works, Home Bargains, B&M etc are great places to get craft supplies. Argos sometimes do little craft biclxes too.Pay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%1
