Is it worth getting an infill for my awning?

Hi guys, I've placed an order for an awning to be fitted in my back garden. I've been told that there will be a 35mm space between the wall and the frame of the awning. Have any of you had an awning fitted? If so, did you also get an infill to fill the space between the wall and the frame of the awning?

I have had an awning in place for a few years in my back garden attached to the rear of my house. the awning itself unfurls off a roller mechanism. I can't think why you would need or use an "infill", it would inpede operation and possibly transfer moisture directly to the wall. I also cover my awning during the winter months, the bespoke covers always utilise said gap to wrap around and protect your cover and mechanism. Hope this helps.0
