Unsure if this is the right board for this. Move if it's not Ty.

So can someone please explain how Asda rewards for schools work. If I join am I donating my cash or is Asda paying the school themselves?
I've checked the FAQs but still can't figure it out. I obviously want to keep getting the money off myself, saving it in my Christmas pot actually.

I had to read it carefully before I signed up, as it wasn't clear.  Asda are donating their own money to the school.  They donate a percentage calculated on the amount you spend.

See the Terms and Conditions - if you scroll up a bit and see the question under 'Can I donate any of my own money/cashpot' - the answer is:  "Asda will make all the donations to schools - all you have to do is opt in, shop and scan! You cannot transfer any of your own Cashpot value to the school's Cashpot."
    Mortgage 31st Jan'25. est. £247k £309,749, Ends Aug'37 Jun'39 (target Feb'31)
LTV: 65% (aiming for 60% LTV before remortgaging - approx £19k away)

Thanks very much. Sure I looked at that page and didn't spot that.

Thanks, I have signed up for this as well.

  • Asda could make the option to sign up far more visible on the app so I have serious doubts about the altruistic value of this campaign. I think this is a very half-hearted attempt to donate, its more a show of corporate social responsibility that will translate into Asda's own bottom line.

So much to read, so little time.

I remember the very successful Tesco Computers for Schools campaign. It ran for several years. Tesco issued a voucher when you shopped which you could donate to the school of your choice. My school got a new computer each year on the back of it as Tesco was the local supermarket.

I think Sainsburys did something similar with sports equipment.

This seems a poor relation in comparison.

I don't often shop at Asda but I had a £5 coupon in the app, so I went there this weekend. I noticed the school promotion so I selected my nephew's school (I don't have kids myself). According to the app his school has already raised £500. Not a huge amount but equally it will come in useful I'm sure.
