As the title says really
Too much debt (about 8,500 not including mortgage)
Every new year I resolve to pay it off and get some savings instead
Every end of the year, there it still is
So I’ve started this diary for some support and accountability and advice
So far I have switched £6500 onto a 0% card
Todays plan is to pay car insurance annually with my meagre savings- got a quote a few days ago and it is half what the renewal quote that’s just arrived says 😊
it is depressing spending my carefully hoarded £200 on car insurance but better than monthly direct debits for a £400+ renewal plus whatever interest they sneak on
Next job - need to tackle Sky who are currently taking over £100 a month for broadband, a barely used landline and basic sky TV (no films or sports channels)
Wish me luck

Just tell Sky you want to leave; check out how much new customers can get it for and also what you can get elsewhere from other providers
Do you actually need tv or just broadband?31/03/24: Debt total £12,400/13,192.131 -
I always haggle with Sky via the web chat rather than calling them31/03/24: Debt total £12,400/13,192.131

Need good broadband connection for work (mainly work from home so this is essential)
TV - mainly watch discovery plus I’ll see if that’s on free view- great idea, thanks 😊0 -
I’m just changing to their competitor as I got a much better deal and much faster broadband speed and Sky couldn’t and wouldn’t match or come down to same as they offer new customers 🤷♀️👋
Also their new contracts are two years 🙄31/03/24: Debt total £12,400/13,192.130 -
That’s interesting thanks. Are you happy to share which competitor? We’ve been with BT in the past and I remember their internet being okay, Virgin I need to check coverage in our area, I think I’ve seen a postcode checker on MSE or somewhere that shows you who offers what speed where
I’m not streaming films and multitasking, just need to manage online meetings smoothly0 -
Virgin, you can check on their website if you can get it in your area
hate BT lol31/03/24: Debt total £12,400/13,192.130 -

Everyone needs to do their own research which is best for them
