In my opinion, the american version is much better than the british. The DVDs are region 2/4, and it has not even been released on UK R2 disk yet, but this is the australian release and it plays. It also has a whole lot of dvd extras.

Review:This is the Australian release - Region 2/4
Based on the popular British series of the same name, this faster-paced American version follows the daily interactions of a group of idiosyncratic office employees via a documentary film crew's cameras.
Regional manager Michael (Steve Carell) thinks he's the coolest, funniest, best boss ever - which, of course, makes him the uncoolest, most obnoxious and annoying boss as far as his staff is concerned. His co-worker Jim (John Krasinski) lusts after engaged receptionist Pam (Jenna Fischer) when he's not sabotaging his cube-mate, the know-it-all Dwight (Rainn Wilson). Ryan Howard (B.J. Novak) is a young, smart, self-possessed temp, who quickly figures out the real office politics despite Michael's attempts to instill the official point-of-view.

The US series is rubbish, IMHO. Without Ricky Gervais it just doesn't work (even if he directed it, advised on it or whatever)

i knew someone would say that! I do hate ricky gervaism, and i think this is why i dont like the brittish one much, and love steve carrell but i will admit that the first episode of the us version is just a crappy copy of the british counter part, but the rest are amazing :G0

Exactly.
The first series has lots of ported parts from the UK version but the new stuff is fantastic.
A true sit com on its own .
the Second Series is amazing.
Its already got 110 episodes so to even compare it to the UK is silly.
if you havent seen it get it .0 -
first ones unforgettable.
american uses this charm and creates a hell of a show in its own right.

If anyone has Sky, series one of the US The Office starts next Saturday on Paramount Comedy channel.0

If you go to the American site it is $27.99 there (£14) & if you register you get an email sent with a $1 voucher code making a total of £13.50 including delivery. I used my Nationwide card as well so no charges!
Thanks for the heads-up OP!0 -
