Crypto Mistake

Be gentle with me . I had a bad stroke couple of years ago . At time of stroke I was very fit and financially well off. Told by NHS I would never walk again. A relative of mine was in the military who told me about a qualified Nuero Physio that had a record of “ repairing “ people like myself.
After years in military he had gone private . Really expensive.
Choice between wheelchair loads of money or much reduced finance and recovery.
I worked with him for three years and paid mortgage off.
Succcesful I’m lucky really but live on benefits. It’s very tight.
i was recommended a crypto site which asked me for £200. It appears to have gone in an account and has “ made” £600.
ive got to stress its was totally out of character , never gambled and spent most of 2023 sorting my debts out.
I don’t know is it legit ? They aren’t getting any more money off me. But I now have an agent who going to guide me.
If it’s an AI system why do I need a guide ?
I’m full of guilt I’ve ( with some help ) achieved so much. I’m pension age but very computer literate  everything I do is through the IPad.

clearly quite a vague question but there’s a small part of me that thinks it’s OK . Delusional ?

I have phone appointment with my guide this afternoon. He’s isn’t getting any more money or personal details.
I even even phoned my bank and they just asked me what I thought. 🤦‍♀️
there’s plenty to revisit but I need some quick basic advice.
Thanks.

    It'll be a scam.

They'll ask you to invest more, you'll see fake appreciation of your funds and find no way to realise the "gains" unless you pay an admin fee etc etc

If you paid by card block that immediately, advise your bank and cancel any payment authority to the scammers,

    Walk away now !

Withdraw the £800 and congratulate yourself on a tidy profit. Don't be surprised if it's not that straightforward!

Or withdraw £400 to crystallise some profit and leave £400. Before speaking to your 'guide'.

As soon as your 'guide' suggests adding more of your own money you know you're being played.
  • My friend did this and 'made' a big profit. When she came to withdraw it, she was told she had to pay 10% commission up front rather than it being deducted from her fund; at this stage, she realised it was a scam.

Don't 'invest' any more money. It may also be worth contacting your bank to see whether it will refund you under a voluntary code of practice.

I work in a bank and I have seen dozens of customers fall for this type of scam, losing hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Don't pay in any more money - the 'agent' will apply all sorts of pressure to get you to invest more.

Every single person I've dealt with whose fallen for this scam had some initial doubts (as you do, hence your post) but convinced themselves it was legit... Until the website stopped working, the agent vanished, and their money was lost.
  • Crypto is a cruel mistress. Massive gains for the minority, massive losses for the majority.
My advice would be not to invest in Crypto, but to find other ways to generate income. If you really want to get into crypt, then run all your investments in an spreadsheet with a pretend investment. See how you do for the first six months. Also, I would highly recommend a good investment / trading course.

How did the phonecall go? Did you get your money back/cut your losses/invested more?
