Debt collection letter that seems dodgy

I have received a letter from JC International Acquisition stating that I have an outstanding balance of £610 from the originating creditor: SSE. They said they've asked Resolvecall to manage my account for them. Within the same letter, there's a letter from Resolvecall saying they have been instructed by JC International Acquisition to collect the outstanding balance. They say it's in my interest to contact Resolvecall immediately to discuss my account.
Now the issue is that the letter is addressed to 'Group' and doesn't actually have my name on it. The other odd thing is that I haven't been with SSE for a few years and I was only with them at my previous address. I settled my account with them when I left and have an email proving that. So I have no idea where this £610 has come from. So this coupled with the fact that my name isn't actually on the letter makes me think it's either a scam, a mistake or it could even be linked to the previous owner of the property (I bought the place in 2021).

What should I do?!

If the letter isn't addressed to you, I don't think you should get involved

When Resolvecall visit, you should just say No Thank You

They have probably been employed to try to find a name to attach to a random debt

you might want to send them a prove it letter but only by snail mail.  But if they don't have your name I wonder if it's worth the price of a stamp.

Both companies are legit, JC International Acquisition`s purchase old debts, they then instruct companies like Resolve call to collect on their behalf.

Resolve call are old friends of this site, and are a debt collection company who specialise in home visits, in an attempt to open communication in regard to the debt.

Basically if its not your name, its not your problem, so as you are not Mr Group, this is nothing to do with you, and should you get a visit from Resolve call, tell them as much.
