The Rick Astley method

Not a retirement story so may get bumped but it does speak to me. I hope to retire next year at 57, I’ve been planning for ten years and the numbers work (a DB pension makes this possible , I wouldn’t have managed it otherwise). I keep getting t(at nagging feeling though ‘just one more year’. Do I  need it? Not really. I’ll get a limited number of healthy years and I intend to use them. Do you have enough to give you the freedom? The ‘Dad ‘ here is substituted by ‘work’. For me that’s key, like my new mate Rick says I recognise I’ve had some luck along side my rational decisions.

Personaly, I would use Buffett for inspiration. But hey.
My faviourite from Buffett: "If you dont find way to make money while you sleep, you'll work until you die."

It’s possible to run out of time rather than money. My dad’s neighbour retired as a GP at the age you mention, his widow recently reminded me that at least it gave him ten years, most of them shared with her once she retired, before he got one of those less common cancers that aren’t treatable.

At least with Rick you know he's never going to give you up.
It is a shame he isn't a financial advisor really.  I have a feeling he would never let me down.
Think first of your goal, then make it happen!
  • Is it still Rickrolling if his name is in the title?
