Faulty phone?

I ordered a cordless telephone from telephoneonline.co.uk just over a week ago and when I charged up the phone and connected all the telephone lines, there is no dial tones on any of the handsets.
I don't think it's my telephone connection that is the problem but the handset. So can no dial tone can be classed as faulty and will I likely to get a refund?

Try plugging a phone that you know works into the same phone socket you have got the base unit plugged into - that would check if it is the line.
Also, check that the plug is connected to the base unit correctly.
Just one final thing - stupid question I know, but are you operating the on/off hook button correctly?
If none of these work then there is no question that not being able to get a line on a phone is a fault! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
I've returned stuff to them before they are fine but slowish.0

I have tried it with a standard telephone and it works. Another thing that i forgot to mention is that the cordless phone that I brought is a BT one and my telephone provider is not BT. But I didn't think that mattered as it didn't specify that I needed a BT line.
Do you think the problem might be that?0 -
It does not matter what make of phone it is.
If you've tried everything, the batteries are charged, and it's plugged into phone socket and power, then it has to be the phone.
Sorry it took a while to come back to you!!! Hope you are sorting it out OK.What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
