Virgin Media broadband arrears on closed account

Hi - my first post on the DFW forum boards so pls go gently with me.
In early stages of belatedly getting to grips with tangled mess of my finances following a long period of head in sand paralysis compounded by two months dealing with a family bereavement. I’ve spent last three days opening backlog of post, working through everything, prioritising debts and engaging with creditors, from mortgage lender down in a bid to avert worst case scenarios etc
Among the smaller debts is a two figure amount to Virgin Media. Some point between July and end of Sep 2023 my VM broadband was suspended and later disconnected due to an outstanding amount of £72 due to bounced DD payment. First I heard about the arrears was a letter from BPO collection agency on 27 Sep saying that they could help restore VM services on payment of said amount. Next piece of correspondence was from VM themselves in November asking for the same amount. And then in late Dec and mid Jan two more letters this time from Advantis collection agency asking for same amount. There the paper trail ends - until a letter this week - from VM - saying sorry I had decided to leave them recently (!) and that I owed them £83.
The amount is a bit puzzling as I had been paying £50 monthly til July 2023 (the contract had long since ended). I do want to make sure anything owed is settled, just keen to get a steer on best avenue of approach. It’s not a big debt, tho in grand scheme of overall debt position would be hard to pay it in a oner as more urgent debts are going to eat up what resources i can muster short term.
Any advice or experience dealing with VM in this kind of scenario would be much appreciated.
With thanks in advance.

send them a "proveit" letter. See one of the top stickies and they should provide details of what you might owe and why.
frankly in the scheme of things it's not urgent. it's unlikely to grow at all and they're not going to chase you or take you to court for such a piddly amount.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards.
