Hi to clarify the situation - he is on a zero hours contract but does normally work between 23-29 hours per week so he does qualify for a work place pension  Other people in the gym have different contracts ie, they are normally self employed as far as my son knows.  He doesn't feel able to ask everyone. He should as far as I am aware be offered a pension under the rules, however it does not appear that this will happen. He could bring this up but he is very worried they will just reduce his hours on his zero contract so that he would then not qualify.  Unfortunately this is the situation, it is very unfair and very wrong.  We have told him to use this as a good job to put on your CV and to gain experience (he is autistic so actually this job is more important than the pension).  That isn't to say I not annoyed about the injustice of it it but he has overcome a lot to actually do the job and this is what I am concentrating on. We are looking at the different SIPS and hopefully in time he can move to another job where they are fair to their employees. I also doubt that there are any government agencies checking up that pension rules are being followed!

There is actually. Pension Regulator get very hot under the collar when they find employers not doing their legal duties and can fine them heavily.

There is Whistleblower form on their site I believe. But I can see where you are coming from regarding job experience.
