Hi, now back.
Weather is the same as yesterday, dreary.
It's great to see Taff and Nanny back, sorry to read that life is difficult at the moment Nan.
Taff you seem to have had a lovely time, you're full of busy as usual.
Glad you enjoyed the Rebus play Gers.
SuffolkSue, sometimes I set quizzes for our Tuesday night group, and I use free quiz sites on the internet, don't know if you do. It's a great time saver, especially if you cut and paste questions and answers into a document, then print off.
DP1, glad the little one is doing better, it's been a long haul for you all.
Hope the floods go down soon WickedLady.
It's New Fire Day today, so looking forward to that. Our neighbour is coming round to see it, as she's thinking of doing the same, having an old gas fire out and replacing with a coal effect electric fire.
Mehefin, you'll have enjoyed seeing your brother, this can be a hard time when everything is 'over' and you're on your own.
Hope everyone has a good day today, thinking of our poorly and sad people.
Take care folks.13 -
Thanks for starting us off @Scarlet. It's more chilly here than I'd like. There's a band of low mist hanging over the sea whilst the sky is layers of pink and blue. Once again the RABT is closed. All signs of winter coming. Since starting this the mist is rising and spreading out.Yesterday I struggled to keep awake during GBBO, nor because it was boring so was asleep very soon after it. Today I'll be catching up with stuff which needs attention.I hope that all are well and safe.12

Morning, still dark here but chilly, rain forecast later so I think the log burner will be lit.
Yesterday was spent sorting out the fridge freezer and cupboards we're still on a flood warning here but I feel better knowing I'm prepared.
No plans for today, but my friend brought me a bag of paperbacks so plenty to read. May make the stew and dumplings which I haven't done yet, it's that sort of weather.
Nanny, nice to "meet" you, although I've been reading for years. Sounds like your break did you good.
Taff, I've tried making pastry sitting down, but can't get on with it. I can't sit to iron either, I think it's the lack of movement.
Have a good day whatever you're doing.
Love to all x10 -
Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. Happy New Fire Day! Blimey it's starting to feel much chillier in a morning now and today we have more rain forecast. Thankfully not as heavy as further south. WL I hope your floods have subsided now.
Welcome back TAFF and NAN, you have been missed, TAFF, dare I ask, are your jobs all finished now or have you more planned?! Glad you had a nice break away NAN. A change of scenery is always good for the soul.
I met my DF for lunch yesterday and things are moving at last for her DH. They saw a sympathetic doctor who was prepared to listen and ask questions about what is going on with him. He agrees there is definitely a problem and has referred him for a CT brain scan. The worry is it could be a tumour or some sort of dementia. Another worry is that my SIL, who I mentioned earlier in the year, has now been admitted to the hospice. This is the same one that looked after my Bob, and me, so wonderfully and which prompted my DD to apply for a job there. It has brought back lots of sad times for me. I feel so sad for them all.
I have delayed it long enough but I think the time has come to sort out my winter clothes and see what is needed. I live mostly in jeans and joggers in winter but I do need some new "best" trousers for the odd occasion when they are needed. As yet I haven't spotted any I like.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Take care all and keep warm xx

Morning all
Brrrr very chilli here this morning I’m trying to hold out till October to light the log burner but might cave in sooner, the heating will stay off for a while yet.
Off to collect Rob today and take him to work he is in the cafe today which he loves, we haven’t been for about five weeks due to holidays and sickness so it will be nice to see everyone.
Dinner tonight will be spag bol, dd is on a waking night tonight which she doesn’t normally do but one of the children is in hospital so the staff are taking it in turns to be with her overnight so a good dinner before she goes will set her up.
We met DD’s friend in town yesterday with her baby he is such a delightful chap he is a year next month and already walking really well and so inquisitive.
Nan glad you are back your break away sounds like it did you some good xx
Taff glad to see you are back xx
Have good days all and take care xx9 -
Morning! Is it raining again? Of course it is! Only a drizzle so far though..TA, OH has the bug now so he wants to get the downstairs rooms and hallway/landing plastered when the extension bit is finished [ there's screed to go down yet] and we do need a new boiler so hopefuly that will get done before Christmas. The fire will dry it out quicker anyway once that's lit which reminds me, got to order wood. For those who have trouble with tablets, I can't take themwith water, they get stuck, so I have them with food, I chew a mouthful of whatever then push the tablet in the middle and swallow that. No stickage in throat...Today meeting friends tonight for coffe, haven't seen them for a month. And I have an allotment now apparently, Have to meet him on Firday morning to look at it, not expecting great things since they usually come up when someone has had enough and left it for a bit. We'll see. This means that if I can keep that up, I won't be growing veg in the back garden and can indulge myself with onions and cabbages and lots more beans
And all the stuff I haven't got room for like artichokes and asparagus. Should be fun.
Nan, doesn't matter if you moan, it's just real life, and we do like ot keep tabs on you, in a nice way obviously, not in a creepy wayMust be tough with your dad, he sounds like he should be carted off in a charabanc toot sweet...TA, that is sad for them and you, it must seem like history repeatng itself. Hugs to you too. But good news re your DF though, hopefully they can work out what it is. Scarlet, happy new fire day...I did htink that gas was cheaper than electric though, was it not a viable tariff? [ another thing I need to look at]. Gers, I didn't even know it was back on, that's one for bingeing later in the year! I've been watching Kaos [when I can stay awake], it's fun so far. Remmie, stew and dumplings? Now you're talking! Ruby, hope Rob is better, it is slightly suspicious that he's ok when you pick him up, yes
But have fun! Nights are no fun at all, fortitude to your daughter, hope the person in hospital is out soon...Hope everyone has a tolerable day with less rain!

Morning all from a dull and dreary Mehefinland
No rain yet but looks very promising!
Little bro back home ok via Ludlow. Suitably fortified with faggots and some Shropshire blue cheese - quite made me feel hungry for a while.
Scooby is in season and in lurve. Poor old Showman doesn't know what's hit him lol. She is being a right tart and all he wants to do is eat the grass. I was surprised she was so 'active' as she is 26 now and it is quite late in the year ( it's thought that it's all triggered by the amount of natural light). She probably has some hormonal deficiency but I'm not going there. Have enough to do looking after her itches and treating them with Sudocrem every morning.
Acquired 2 big packs of loft insulation off FB which needs to be put away. Will have to clear a load of junk treasures out of the loft first though. That will be a challenge.
Waiting for a dry day to oil the garden furniture before putting it under cover for the winter. It was new this year ( forward planning for my b/day) so I would like to keep it in good condition. Got the stuff waiting to go, just need a sufficiently warm and dry day.
Need to visit FD and pay the final part of Dawn's funeral costs - lady has been on holiday, and I have been waiting for a final invoice. Got a bit of discount as its a Co-Op franchise but need to make sure its been accounted for. Just another part of the 'sadmin'
TA - I'm so sorry to hear about your SIL.
Hugs and spoons as always

Morning all, thanks Scarlet, hope the fire fitting is good.Hey, posts from Taff & Nan - good to see you back, and glad you enjoyed your breaks
The wedding sounded lovely.
dp1 happy to hear the little one is getting sorted now.I had a problem doing my T order yesterday, nearly done it all then noticed as I added stuff to my basket, it took it out again, then wouldn't let me pay for what was in there. By that time the delivery slot had expired. Tried again later but it was still the same so I quickly did an O order which is coming in an hour. If the stuff is still in the T basket, I might see if it'll let me have it next week instead,- it did say it was their error.Pooch had a restless night, therefore so did I. Needless to say she is snoring away now!Looking forward to our meal out later, & I've wrapped DGDs presents and put them in a gift bag for tomorrow.DH has now been put on the list for hip surgery but the nurse said his BP was a bit high, and to try and get it down before then so he wants to lose a bit of weight. He has an awful sweet tooth though so he'll have to wean himself off so much sugar.Right better get on before the delivery driver gets here- take care all:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning everyone
Nice blue sky here this morning, which is nice after yesterday was such a miserable day with heavy showers at times.
I have my fingers crossed DD and little one will get home today...they will get the train as they could wait a long time for hospital transport. Her car is still at Edinburgh hospital!
My antibiotics and steroids are starting to work already so I'm not feeling quite so bad today.
Right I'll get on, instead of waffling. Hope everyone has a good day x10 -
Morning all, thanks for the warm welcome back. It's gently raining here at the moment.
We emptied the van yesterday and everything is in the spare bedroom ready for sorting and putting away for the winter. I do have some things to re-wash like the electric frying pan and I also must rid the van kettle of limescale before boxing up and over wintering. I realised last night that I had forgotten to remove the dishes from the van so we'll go back over when we have a dry day and I'll start removing the cushions too.
Most of the washing dried yesterday but some things were still damp so they were put on the airer overnight. Yesterday afternoon I had to phone around to find out where Dad's meds were ( they were on the pharmacy van for delivery) and it seems they are changing the system over to paperless when everyone will have to order online and collect from the pharmacy. We order on line anyway (and we do Dad's) but it doesn't bode well for people like Dad who can only just use a mobile phone, and that's not always the case as he puts us on mute or rings off mid sentence by accident then blames the phone !
Today we have to go to Dad's this morning to pay some bills, read his electric meter etc and we're back to the same old whinging about everything. This afternoon I hope to do some sorting of the van stuff.
remmie nice to meet you too
Scarlet happy fire day.
taff glad the wedding was lovely.
Sorry I have forgotten who else I wanted to reply to, my mind is all over the shop already, I'm not a morning person.
Hugs to anyone in need and the poorly ones. I hope everyone has a good day and can stay dry.
nan xx
