Best fitness leggings for apple shape

Hi
I'm going to the local gym and enjoying it but my yoga type pants keep falling down! I'm an over 55 female with a big tummy - apple shape (hhmmm apple pie...)
What are the best inexpensive options please

  • Depends what you call inexpensive, I have some from rainbows and sprinkles, they are super comfy, have pockets and have some fabulously fun designs

Personally I find cheap leggings tend to have either see thru bum issues, or don't stay up! Really you want a drawstring in the waist to assist... Especially with Yoga, Pilates or classes like step/ body pump where you're moving.

I'm a Sweaty Betty girl - but always buy the leggings in the sale (one has just started with 50% off). I have leggings which are a decade old from SB and still going strong.

Otherwise I would go to the M&S Good Move range - I have a couple of pairs from them, and whilst they're not quite as good as SB (they are 95% as good), they're more budget friendly (again especially in the sales!)

For tops however, Uni Qlo do great ones (but the leggings have no drawstring and slide down)

I haven't heard of them, I'll check them out, thanks

I love a sale! I hadn't thought of the drawstring option, thanks, that's more in my sartorial comfort zone than high waisted athleisure.

on a related issue - I hate hate hate hate hate tights.  In the past no matter what I did they rolled down, would bag around my knees and were just a horrid mess.  Did I mention I hated them???  But somebody suggested Snags.

I hummed and hahhed about these for a couple of years and finally decided that I would pay the extra these cost.  REVELATION!!!  They fit, don't roll anywhere, stay in place!!  I'm amazed.  Now that was the tights but I have no reason to think the leggings would be worse.

Apple shouldn't be a problem if you look at their website - apple, plum, pear or watermelon - they've got the lot to suit everyone.  Just be a bit, um, open minded about some of their odder ranges.

Thanks! Another one I'd not heard of.
I did power lifts last night, I had to ignore the feeling of my pants heading south and concentrate on techniques (and not letting the bar drop on my feet)

  • Just an update: I bought Snag leggings after the recommendation here. Not bad, the stay up and are comfortable. A bit baggy for me and thick material but overall they for the bill. I am still eyeing sweaty betty but I'll look at m & s first.
    Thanks for all your suggestions
