Council tax banding

I live in a semi detached two bedroom bungalow built 1999 therefore before April 1991. We bought in 2020. We are in band C and the three bedrooms semi detached houses on the same road are in band B. Any advice as I don’t have proof of the original sale in January 2000. There were 8 bungalows built 1999 on the road all exactly the same and they are all in band C. Need some advice as to what I can do. I did contact valuation office but they want proof of the value when they were built or first sold

  • If built in 1999, how can that be before April 1991?

Bungalows are often valued higher than nearby semi-detached houses, even if there are less bedrooms - they'll tend to have a bigger footprint.

Original sale should be recorded by the Land Registry. You can download details for a few pounds. Unless you live in an area of low house prices, Band C does not seem excessive for a 2 bed S/D bungalow.
