Leaving work before sick line runs out

I’m leaving my job whilst on sick leave but my fit note/sick line is still valid for another 4 months, do I ask HR to return it to me or do I have to request a duplicate from my GP?

If you need one to claim benefits you should ask your GP for new one

Are you still receiving SSP from your employer, if so then any fit note dated beyond your leaving date should be returned with form SSP1.
  • The fit note is your property.  It is not the property of your employer although they can take a copy for their records.  So you could ask for it now if you want it.
