Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. The mornings are getting later to get light, autumn definitely with us.
Another lovely day forecast, this has been one of the best weeks of summer by far! Supposed to be meeting DF for lunch but if it doesn't happen I will resume my pruning at the back (I bought some new secateurs yesterday and itching to test drive them!) and borrowing more pots for the front,
have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need, specially Dp1's littlie. Wondering what's happening with NAN, she has been missing for quite a while now. Take care all be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10 -
Morning All
Thanks for the start Scarlet.
Dry and bright again this morning, yesterday got up to 25 degrees - just when I was stuck in traffic for an hour and a half on my way home!
Very successful event at school yesterday, will clear everything up when I get in this morning. Glad I had been shopping, the children scoffed the biscuits by the handfull, I was a bit cross at the way the parents let them without a thought for anyone else.
I was wondering about Nan too TA, seems ages since she posted. Hope everything is ok.
Hope you get more news on little one's transfer today dp1 - glad your DD is enjoying Malaysia.
How are things going Mehefin?
Poor Rob Ruby, hope you get to see him soon.
Have a good Thursday, take care. XX10 -
Morning again - the sky looks rather ominous but the forecast is ok so we'll
hope for the best. Yesterday was sunny all day but with a little edge to the breeze.
We went out to look at electric fires, still haven't decided which one.. ( I'm terminally indecisive) I was telling my neighbour about it and she now thinks she'll do the same as us. She too has an old gas fire that she doesn't use.
Remmie, I don't do pastry by hand anymore, I have arthritis in my hands but, I do it in the food processor. Just pulse it in short bursts, as it's easy to over process.
Also, I make a batch and freeze the rubbed in mixture in a bag, then just weigh out what I want.
If you don't have a processor I think any of the supermarket mixes will be ok.
Dp1, sorry to read dg d is still having problems, hope things can be ''fixed'. Your other Dd certainly gets about!I
TA was it you who mentioned Nanny, I've been wondering about her as well.
Hope everyone is all right, and has a good day. Thinking of our poorly or sad people. ( hope you'll soon feel better Coxy)
Take care folks.11 -
Morning all - it's cold and bright, today may well be the last of the fine days we've had this week. Now I have a shiny new smart meter. I was disappointed that one could be fitted and will most definitely not be looking at the wee screen. The young engineer arrived promptly and worked away, the most odd thing was having no power for that time. Meanwhile the cleaner arrived to do his thing. He had to use my GTech upstairs though by the time he came to do downstairs the power was back on. The day was beautiful, hard to believe that it's mid-September.Entirely because of the smart meter screen I decided to experiment with doing a white wash at 30 degrees for the first time. Despite my worries I was pleasantly surprised at the very clean result though a lifetime habit of very hot washes was difficult to break - perhaps I will now. I also ran the DW and felt like a spendthrift!Today I have a phone appointment with my physio as we have both received all the imaging and records from the hospital which did my hip replacement in 2019.@DP1 - it's good news about your little one, I hope that she gets back to the RVI soon and that your DD can organise a driver. Other DD being in Malaysia took me right back to the weekend I spent in KL (I was in OZ) at what was the Hotel Equatorial - now it's called EQ KL. I remember being so impressed with the rooftop swimming pool and spent ages there as our visit was at the end of August when Independence Day is celebrated, we were advised to stay indoors and watch the festivities from there.@Camelot - I read that there had been a head-on crash close by the police station but it's a dual carriageway so not sure if that's correct. Sorry you had such a long journey.@TA - hope that you get out for your lunch.Hugs to all.9

Morning all, hope you are all well,or getting there, esp. LittleOne. It's another fine morning. I'm expecting a grocery order shortly so once thats put away I may go for a walk. Again yesterday I gave the park a miss and did a circuit around the historic hall & chapel where DH and I got married. Had nice conversations with an older lady who was struggling to get her wheelie bin back in, and an older gentleman who had a lovely dog who came running up to me wagging his tail, it was a few minutes until his owner caught up with him
It makes a real difference to my mood to get out in the sunshine so need to make the most of it- it's just not the same when it's wet and cold.
DGS was disgruntled when we picked him up as 1 of the other teachers told him off for bringing a football in for lunchtime play. He told her he'd had permission from the HT (true) and she told him not to give her back chat. He is a polite and very well mannered lad so I think he was a bit annoyed. He's at cross country again at our park after school so I'll walk up.
Remmie, the only pastry I tend to make these days is the sweet one for mince pies that usually pops up on the forum near Xmas. I occasionally buy the ready rolled sheets, think it's Jusroll, and freeze if there's any left. I don't eat it but seems to go down ok with the menfolkRight better get my bags out to send back with the driver, 10p each is better in my pocket than theirs!Take care everyone:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning everyone
It was misty when I first got up, it's clearing now and the sun is forecast to come out later.
I had lemsip and ibuprofen before bed and had a good sleep, still feeling a bit yuck this morning but fine to go to work.
I'm hoping DD and little one will get transferred to Newcastle today, little one just wants to get back to 'her nurses.' DD is frustrated that no one knows what the problem is - hopefully they'll get to the bottom of it soon.
Eldest DD sent a photo from the plane coming in to land in Borneo this morning.
Right, I need to go on Amazon to order a new landline phone for mam.
Hope everyone has a good day x7 -
Morning all and thanks for the start @ScarletRibbons x
Last sachet of chalky grot this morning. Hoping it does the trick otherwise I will be having to ask my medical colleagues for a prescription.
No cup of tea at home today as the milk had turned and DH forgot to get any when he shopped yesterday. I also forgot to set the alarm so woke with a start at 7am and had to wash my (long) hair and cook rice for my lunch. Got into work by the skin of my teeth. Will not miss rushing about once we move!
Glad that little DGD will be transferred @dp1 – let’s hope she improves soon x How is your Dad doing now?
Glad the walking is helping @RosyRed x
I too was wondering about @nannywindow – hope she’s doing okay and is just busy with RL.
Hugs to all those in need. Have a good day all.

Good morning from a dull and windy Mehefinland
Plodding along doing bits n bobs . Hoicked out the old freezer from the shed yesterday, the seals had failed and it was more ice than content. Will arrange council to collect - its £29 for up to 3 items!! Have to find some more treasures junk to go with it before I book them.
Had a bonfire at the field this morning to dispose of a load of mouldy haylage - it starts to ferment when the bale wrap is opened and the air gets in. Sometimes you are lucky and it stays ok, but usually it starts 'sweating' which can quickly turn to mould. I had a large pile building up, so that's radically reduced. I smell gorgeous lol. Fairy was most intrigued and came up several times to stand in the smoke. Odd really, as when the others were hot shod she would freak out at the smoke. Perhaps it's because it smells different?
Chimbly sweep due this afternoon - he is no !!!!!! Van Dyke!! Woodburner should be a doddle, but the Rayburn is going to be problematical. I can see a big spend on the horizon. But, when lit the benefits far outweigh the chore of fueling, cleaning etc, and trying to keep the dust burden contained. It gets everywhere in the house.
Picked my first ripe pumpkin off the muckheap and gave it to my lovely neighbour. She insists I call in every day on the way home from teatime chores, and usually gives me a tincture . Gets quite annoyed with me if I fail to call in and rings me up to check on me. Bless her, I know she means well but sometimes I just need that little bit of reflection time to myself, and I won't call in if its mealtime, or she has visitors and/or family there ( that's not the way I was brought up , but she doesn't seem to care!).
Just debating whether to attack a bit more of the front hedge - I pay for up to 8 bags/fortnight and I have 7 fillled already. May wait to see if the wind drops a little, as there is a lot of berberis in it, and that is wicked stuff.
Hugs and spoons as always

A late one for me today.
DH had an early appointment at the surgery for his results. All ok thankfully.
Then we had a little road trip to Farmfoods an Home Bargains, we only go maybe twice a year. I was quite disappointed as I couldn't get as much as I expected. Never mind, still a stock up of the fridge and freezer. It'll keep us going for a while.
Now back, the other half of the pie for tea. Thanks for the suggestions for pastry. I haven't got a processor. I usually enjoy making pastry, I find it relaxing. I think I'll try making up some and freezing it for aching days. To be honest we only have something with pastry maybe every few weeks, so I can work around it.
Sending love to dp1's Dgd. Wishing her well.
Love to all x
