Over halfway through September, how the days slip away.
Yesterday was an ok day, boiler was serviced and was ok, though so it should be it's only 3 years old.
We were talking to the boiler man about getting rid of our old living flame gas fire in the sitting room, it's 30 years old and very wasteful to run. There's a big double radiator in the room as well, it's just that the gas fire was a handy and quick warm up if we didn't want to heat the whole house, say on a chilly summer evening. We don't use it now because of the cost, and he recommended an electric fire which would have a flame effect and would fit in the aperture. There was originally a coal fire there. ( this is an old house)
They are quite cheap to buy as well, so we'll go out today to look at some.Anything that saves a bit of money !
Not much else going on today.
Hope everyone is ok and has a good day. Izzy hope it stays fine for you.
Take care folks.

Morning, thanks for starting us off @scarlet. I hope you find a good fire.My appointment yesterday was very brief. Hearing aid didn't need any work though the technician said I had a significant build up of wax in both ears. He suggested getting almond oil so I went off to the pharmacy to get some, there the pharmacist said that olive oil is better. Last time a different technician recommended bicarbonate of soda drops, I now have a selection.Today my cleaner is coming. I can't go out as there's an engineer coming from my electricity company to assess my place for a smart meter. I'm not that keen about having one but the assessment is part of the conditions of the new tariff. I trust that the engineer can find me, especially as this date was made back in July and was the first available one.The moon was so big and bright overnight, quite splendid. Now there's a band of pink under a very pale blue sky with a layer of sea fret above the water. It's very pretty. Despite this I will now rise for my day.My fingers are still crossed for @DP1's little one. Hugs to everyone who can use one.10

Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. Gosh what a dark and gloomy start here this morning. Though it's still very mild and again sun is forecast for the whole day. Yesterday was verging on hot outside but cold inside.
Well I have a nice, tidy and easy to manage front garden at last. The chappie arrived just after I posted yesterday to make a start on clearing and digging up all the overgrown bushes and plants. He took two big trailer loads away to the council garden waste dump! Then started to make the garden look respectable and easy to manage. I am so pleased with it. But I need some new pots and evergreens now as it looks a bit bare! Meanwhile I shall "borrow" some from the back garden!
Lunch with DF didn't happen as her DH had arranged something without telling her! So now postponed until Thursday. I was rather pleased really as I wanted to be here supplying the garden man with endless mugs of tea! Today is bus trip day. Henceforth I may christen it Skipton Day as that's where we always end up. The usual browse of the cs, market stalls and then a wine 'n dine lunch. And lots of talking!
Have a nice day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need. Especially Dp1's littlie. Now the floods have spread to Italy I am hoping TAFF isn't in the affected areas and is enjoying her break - and not working too hard on the house there! Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"9 -
Thanks Scarlet and Gers
Hope everyone’s day goes well and fingers crossed for Little One
I’m off to deliver my craft items to the shop that has bought a large order. DMum had a telephone oncology appt which I need to hang around for in case she can’t hear them. Other than that some packing and restocking of food in the campervan and some tidying and cleaning.AA10 -
Morning All
Thanks for the start Scarlet, hope you find the right fire.
It was bright and clear when I got up but there's a mist rolled in, hoping it clears in a while. Washing out again, I could get used to this beautiful weather we've been having here.
Sorry to hear the little one is back in hospital dp1, sending hugs to you all.
Hoping Rob is better Ruby.
One of those things will work for you Gers!
Work has been so busy I haven't had time to think! We have a meet the teacher session this afternoon so more tea and coffee setting up to be done, will have to get everything tidied up from last night's meeting, teachers are a mucky lot!
I called at both allotments on my way home yesterday and had to water everything. I got a good crop of french beans and a couple more courgettes although I think everything is about finished now. I've a tub full of tomatoes to take into work, I don't really like tomato soup and there are far too many for me to eat.
Wishing everyone well, take care. XX

Hi everyone,
Dp1, poor little one, I hope they get her sorted out properly this time.
Yesterday was my Esther day and we had a lovely time. She's a good walker so I went into the town with her without the pushchair, she easily managed the half mile each way and didn't asked to be picked up once. We called in at the library and she "coloured" in a mask, then to buy milk at the supermarket. Laura's taking her to a class this morning.
I am meeting friends for coffee (well tea in my case, I can't stand coffee) at the local RSPB cafe so I'd better get ready.
Have a good day.10 -
Morning all, wow another sunny day.Yesterday after my short trip to Morries, I persuaded DS to take a detour and drop me off on a main road that is on the edge of the moors with a great view over the town as it was so clear. I was getting bored with my walks constantly being through the park, although it's nice.It would have taken about 30 mins, but I detoured to the park cafe for a loo visit and a coffee
! Once home I unpacked the shopping and it was then lunchtime.
In the afternoon I rang my friend for a long natter, they've both been full of a cough and cold.I also chopped a lot more stuff down in the garden as it's green bin day today. Seemed a shame to waste the rare sunshine reading inside, but unfortunately we left the seat pads outside when it rained and they are still drying out, so left the book until after tea.Camelot, I wasn't keen on tomato soup either, but discovered one readymade in a tub that was tomato & red pepper. It's a bit pricy though so I'm going to have a bash at making it.Lamb chops for tea later, sausages for DS - nice and quick for when we've dropped DGS off at DS2s.As always, thinking of the poorly or sad. Hope a bed becomes available soon dp1.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)10 -
Morning all
Dry and bright here again I’m loving this Indian Summer long may it last.
No Rob again today his mum has given him a laxative and he not can’t stop going she did say I could take him out - errr no he couldn’t work in the cafe with tummy problems, let’s hope he is ok for tomorrow 🤞
I have woken with a horrible stiff neck I must have slept funny, hope it goes soon it’s really uncomfortable.
Dogs to be walked this morning and then shopping to do, I think we will have a chicken casserole for dinner tonight with rice it’s a quick chuck it in a dish and into the oven recipe which was my mums originally it always reminds me of my childhood.
DP1 I hope there is a bed for little one soon xxx
Camelot I would have had your tomatoes in a shot if I were nearer xxx
Have good days all and take care xx8 -
Morning all (just) and thanks for the start @ScarletRibbons x
A cooler day today but getting up to 20 degrees for hometime. I plan a short 3.5k run home tonight. I have another UTI and am dosing up with the sachets of cranberry chalk (bleurgh) so don’t want to overdo it. DH is food shopping today so no idea what’s for dinner. He is at the pub quiz with his buddies tonight so I plan a bath and an earlyish night.
Sorry to hear little one is no better @dp1. Let’s hope she can be transferred to her home hospital soon. So stressful for you and DD.
That’s a fair distance for little Esther to walk @snoozer – what a little star she is.
Glad that you got all your craft stock to the shop @AlwaysAllie – good to hear your items are in demand!
Have a good day everyone

Good afternoon, sun coming out to play now.
I dont know where the times gone today. I seem to have been doing something all morning.
I've made the pastry for tonight's pie, it's resting in the fridge, just need to assemble and bake later. Making pastry does cause me backache these days, I think it's time to start using ready made pastry, has anyone got any recommendations?
DH is washing the car, the birds have been using it for target practice.
That's me for today. Thinking of dp1s little un and dd, fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.
Love to all x9 -
Hello everyone
It's been a beautiful day again here again, I sat outside reading when I got home from work. I woke up with a sore throat and a runny nose this morning, so haven't felt good all day - all the adults at work have it - no doubt 'shared' by one of the children.
Little one has been approved to be transferred to Newcastle, just waiting for a bed ( very impatiently says DD ) and then an ambulance as she's on a drip. DD will just have to leave her car and hope a friend can go and collect it. She's on a drip through her port now, so has stopped being sick.
I had a nice chat with eldest DD this morning, she has been in Penang for a couple of days, which she has really liked and early tomorrow flies to Borneo.
Thank you for all the good wishes and crossed fingers for little one x
