Accord Mortgage Experience

I was wondering if anyone could give any insight into their experience with using Accord for their mortgage.
We are in the process of buying our first home and submitted a recent application with Nationwide that was declined due a default on my account.
Accord have asked for an explanation which we have given and our Mortgage Broker said it seems likely that we will get our AIP and the application should be no problem but I was wondering what the process was like and whether Accord were responsive and helpful or whether the whole thing was a complete nightmare.
Trust pilot have some terrifying reviews for a first time buyer and it's so hard to know the real reviews from fake ones.

You don't really have to deal with the mortgage company. Mortgage broker sets it up for you. Solicitor draws down the funds. You sat up a standing order with your bank to make the mortgage repayment.Mortgage providers are never especially helpful. Even at a high st bank, the nice people in the branch set up the mortgage...but then it's all handled by some centralised mortgage service centre with staff who really don't care.

I used Accord (via a broker) for a purchase a few years ago and they were absolutely fine.1

We've got our mortgage offer with Accord (waiting to exchange currently). They definitely seem to be a more common sense lender, we weren't easy to place due to my other half being on a fixed term job contract with only a few months left at the time, and having a quite a poor credit history, no ccjs or defaults, but a lot of missed payments up until a few years ago.
We didn't have any direct contact with them it all went through our broker.
Good luck, I can remember how nerve wracking the waiting for an offer was!1 -

We have another application appointment with our Broker on Wednesday to submit for a new mortgage for a different house (one that we both love) and I am incredibly nervous for the whole thing!
How long was the application process from when you submitted to mortgage offer?0 -

We got our mortgage offer through and have finally started the conveyancing process.
Fingers crossed all goes smoothly now!1 -
Oh funny I see this thread on round 2 with Accord... I had an offer from Accord in record time in January - applied on Saturday, valuation on Monday, offer on Tuesday, broker sent .pdf Weds AM.
I hoped for a similar outcome this time but keys scuppered us! Applied last Wednesday, valuation booked for Thursday - didn't happen because EA gave them keys that didn't work.... rescheduled to Monday (today) - hoping for outcome within 2 weeks, maybe?
I think I just applied when it was super quiet at the start of January! Still, comforting to hear all going smooth later in the year with others
Good luck with the rest of the journey!Current debt-free wannabe stats:Credit cards: £9,705.31 | Loans: £4,419.39 | Student Loan (Plan 1): £11,301.00 | Total: £25,425.70Debt-free target: 21-Feb-2027

Worst lender I’ve ever dealt with.
• No Mobile App: Lacks a modern mobile app, making account management inconvenient.
• Delayed Documentation: Waited six months for a letter of agreement to rent my mortgaged property. I paid a fee for it, yet the delay caused me to lose the rental opportunity. The fee was never refunded, but they still calculated interest based on the property being rented without notice.
• Unjustified Payment Adjustments: Despite being on a fixed-rate mortgage, my monthly payments were recalculated to pay less towards the principal but more in interest—without any reason or notification.
• Lack of Transparency: No clear breakdown of how much interest you pay monthly, making it difficult to track your finances properly.
• Inconvenient Overpayments: Overpayments can’t be made directly through your account. You have to call customer support and wait around 30 minutes to speak to someone.
Extremely disappointing service. Would not recommend.
