in Cutting tax
At 75 I don't work and pay no tax
Hubby is 80 and for the first time he is paying tax
On his small private pension. It amounts to about £80 . I started a claim on line to transfer some of my tax allowance to him.
Went through it quite smoothly till they asked for 2 documents out of a list.
I only have a photo driving licence, no passport so couldn't go any further.
Husband has none of the documents listed. Does anyone know what happens now please.
It's very frustrating

What were the documents asked for ? There is usually a CRA question option.

Because you want to do it online you need to set up a Gov.UK account. That account is useful for other things as well.
To set up an account from the comfort of your home you do need to take selfies etc. but that is not the only way to set up an account. You can go to the Post Office instead, they will take the pictures for you. After all, not everyone has a suitable smartphone.
Alternatively, as @sheramber says, you can do it by post.

Good luck getting a reply from anything you post to HMRC these days. I have done so myself several times lately and my letters informing them of my circumstances, properly addressed, clearly entered a huge black hole.0

I wanted to make them aware of what my primary home is. Without derailing the OPs post too much, I had to help my fiancee out by going onto her mortgage (50% of it to help her buy out her ex husband) so I have small stake in that house and so could be subject to CGT if I sold that stake. So I wanted to let HMRC know that my primary home is the one I live in now (and have demonstrably done so for 20 years). I wrote them a letter to this effect. Twice. Nothing in acknowledgement. I am not aware there is even a correct form for some types of notification like this.0
