Has anybody tried Anbesol gel for gum pain? Am I the only one who finds it difficult to use?

I have a debilitating and chronic gum pain that can't be fixed (or so my dentist says), so the only think that works is good old fashioned Bonjela.

Because I am a cheapskate, I went to Savers and I bought Anbesol gel 10g for only £2.99:

It has 2% Lidocaine vs 0.5% in Bonjela.

The problem is that the gel is very squishy and difficult to apply. Also, I would expect the gel to burn my gums (which Bonjela does) but this looks like it's doing nothing.

Can anybody relate?

I found my gum health improved quickly once I started using a waterjet.

Lidl sell a version which is cheaper but didn't last long for me

But do you not find it difficult to apply? It feels like it doesn't stick as much as Bonjela. I

I swear by the Anbesol, the liquid version. I think you can get it in boots. I usually apply it with my fingers or a cotton bud. Worth a try!

Thanks. I didn't know that Anbesol had a liquid version.
