Good morning, thanks for starting Gers.
It still seems cold here, it has to warm up a bit next week I think.
Hope everyone has as good a day as they can.
Take care folks.9 -
Morning allA cold but bright morning for a 4 or so hours drive to Chester, at least it's not raining! Will leave around 10ish as we can't check into the hotel until 3pm.Hope everyone has a good day. Take care x9

Morning folks and thanks GERS. A nippy start here and I've put the radiators on for a quick blast. The house felt very cold after being empty all week.
I'm now installed back at Casa Abuela after my week at the 'van and it seems I chose the wrong week for my last hurrah of the season there! A much better week ahead is promised after all the wind and rain I was given. Today I will do all the washing I brought back and find a home for all the other stuff I brought back here for the winter. The fridge is looking very bare but there's plenty in the freezer and cupboards to keep me going until I do the supermarket sweep with DS.
I came back to a message on the house phone from the young chap earmarked to make my front garden (wilderness) easier for me to manage. He's back from his extended European trip and will pop up one evening next week to assess what I want doing and then I'll brace myself for his estimate!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies or sad. Take care all and stay safe x

Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers, bed is the best place to stay this morning!
It's wet and windy here after a week of lovely weather even though it turned cold. I've had to put the heating on this morning for an hour and will light the fire later.
Went out for a meal last night for the little one's 5th birthday with her other Granny, Pappa, Aunty, etc. She was so excited all day at school and invited all and sundry! I dropped them at home, a 5 minute car ride and she was nearly asleep by the time we got there.
Good to hear the little one visited school dp1. Hope your DDad is on the mend.
Welcome back TA, maybe you could go back this week for another visit.
Safe travels Chrisca, your road trip sounds great.
Have a good trip away Izzy.
Thinking of you Mehefin, hope your little pal enjoys his day.
I've had a really busy week with work, no car (got it back now) and trying to get the garden winter ready so plan to have a good rest this weekend. Must go and collect a parcel from the delivery office and I have the hairdresser coming at 10. I'll visit the allotments after then it's feet up time!
Have a good weekend, take care. XX

A busy day yesterday - after a morning doing shopping and errands I ‘popped’ outside to do a 5 minute job and came in about three hours later!
Quick foray to the local boot sale today followed by lots of sanding of more wood pieces for my craft shop. Hopefully a bit of trip planning for a holiday in my campervan next week too.Have a good weekend all and best wishes to all those with poorly relatives

Morning all
I've been around but not making the time to post much lately. Anyway, yesterday we had a good day sorting things out at home. It had been so cold overnight, with the first frost of the year (we're in Buckinghamshire!) we turned our mattress, put the electric blanket on the bed and then changed to the 10.5 tog winter duvet. DH then took the old duvet to the laundrette in town but brought it back to hang in the garden to dry. We had to finish it off in the tumble dryer but it's all done now.
In the meantime I did the ironing and made a fruit cake then went out to have my legs waxed and get a bit of shopping. DH is still making us a log store to go in the garden so he carried on with that in the garage and then cut the grass. After such a productive day we opened a bottle of red to go with dinner
Tonight I'm off to a 70th birthday party locally, so I can walk there. I'm just going to potter today and recharge my batteries a bit.
Hope everyone has a good weekend; it's meant to be a bit warmer!8 -
Good morning from a sunny Mehefinland
Attacked the front hedge yesterday as it was overflowing onto the road. What a job!! It is a mixed lot and I still haven't finished it. The blasted thing is full of berberis and briars. Painful but effective at keeping unwanted people out. It certainly got it's revenge on me, I'm scratched allover. Berberis is a particularly nasty beastie with tiny unseen thorn like bits where you least expect them.
There is a beach litter pick today at our local foreshore so I may mosey on down and give a hand. Life seems to be one endless set of bending, lifting and carrying currently ( that's on top of the daily chores relating to the horses)
Lit the wood burner briefly last night to dry out the flue ready for the sweep next week. Haven't got a clue what I can do about the rayburn yet, I'm hoping the sweep can do a repair, at least until I can source a new part. The kitchen was really cold with the North winds we have been having. The Rayburn just keeps everything cosy without being too hot through the winter months, and is brilliant for slow cooking stuff.
Heard from little brother. Looks like he's going to bring Terry the tumour on a visit to S Wales. It will be good to see him, it's been quite a few years. I suspect a visit to the Blue Anchor Inn at Aberthaw will be on the cardsA lovely old thatched pub from 1380 or thereabouts. It's a 'duck or grouse' sort of place. (low ceilings and archways). People must have been a lot smaller in those days.
Hugs and spoons as always.

I made it up and dressed, reluctantly! I find it very difficult to be in bed awake unless heading for sleep. Earlier I was in enjoying a lovely dream when my bladder began to make itself felt, so annoying.Outside is still grey, inside is dark enough to have the table light on, and the forecast has been downgraded from horrendous to awful. My lovely Aussie niece who has been working in England for two years got her UK citizenship through yesterday and promptly announced that she is going back home next year. Because of our family complexities she's had to work hard to establish her eligibility so don't understand this but won't ask, some things only make sense to some people.I hope that the weather is kind to everyone, @Izzy - enjoy Northumberland. Have you been to the Lady Waterford Hall in Ford & Etal? It's worth a visit, I would often go up there.7

GERS we went to Ford and Etal in March it was early on the morning and not a lot was open and the lady Waterford hall had a school party in so we gave it a miss but it was lovely to walk around and somewhere we will definitely visit when we have a bit more time6
