Tax return refund not issued, tax code adjusted.

I submitted a tax return in June for 23/24 and was due around £1770.

I requested a refund but it never went pending and my tax code was adjusted PAYE to something like 1750L

Dues this mean instead of being being able to request as a lump sum amount I'm just being paid it back via my tax code in the current tax year?
Total Value of wins in 2009: £900 appox. 2010: £730
Wins 2011: Carlisle Utd Tickets (twice!), Baby Food Hamper, Straighteners, Chugginton Toy

  • No, it is normal to also adjust the followings years tax code so hopefully it is an ongoing thing you claimed for.

You need to chase the actual 23/24 refund with HMRC

No, HMRC never refund tax overpaid in one tax year via the tax code of a later tax year.

The new tax code is just trying to keep the current tax year up-to-date, probably in response to how you have completed a specific question near the end of your return.
