Morning again, it's darkish, damp and dreary today.
Still,
damp and dreary will be ok for the Great North Runners, of whom my Ds2 will be one. Better than running in warm sunshine.
We went out for a bit of shopping yesterday, went to Al*i, and did a fairly big shop, don't do many of them now.
We were in for the rest of the day, pottering.
I'm wondering whether to go through my wardrobe and put the summer stuff away, or is it too soon - I suppose we could still have a sudden outbreak of warm sunny days. Maybe I should hold off for a bit.
Not a lot happening here, we might go out for a walk, and I do need to organise the freezer. I had started keeping an inventory but kept forgetting to add/ subtract stuff, so gave up on that. I must admit, there's really only me who makes it untidy, Dh rarely ventures into the icy depths.
Hope everyone has as good a day as they can, thinking of our poorly and sad people.
Take care folks.8 -
Good morning everybody, Thanks for starting us off @Scarlet.I think that Friday and Saturday were our summer here, today we are back to cloudy dark and a bit rainy. Yesterday I finally got all the grass cut in the back garden however it's more mangled than neatly cut. It was so long and wet that there's a lot of cuttings on the on the lawn It looks rather awful. I console myself by thinking at least it's cut, only the third time this summer. Today my plan is to deadhead and prune back my lovely red rosebush at the front door. It has so many blooms on it that it's bowing with the weight, and most of the flowers have been really battered by the rain. I'll do this before taking the grass cuttings away to the tip so that I can add the prunings to the bag. What I thought Bolognese meat sauce turned out to be chilli which was just as tasty. More out for today.I hope that Sunday is kind to you all, there seems to be a shed load of rain heading for southern area. Stay dry!9

Morning
Yesterday was just damp and grey, today is set to be wet! I think Friday’s sunshine was our last glimpse of summer.
I had a successful visit with a small gift shop at our local heritage railway station who loved all the sample items I had made and made a huge (to me) order. A little bit daunted by the work but they know they’ll get it piecemeal!Today will be doing some of that but also trying to keep my online shop active, make things for Christmas craft fairs and keeping up with chores etc as well.I hope there is good news for all the poorlies - thinking especially of DP1’s little one and DParents.AA9 -
Morning All
No sunshine this morning, it's quite misty.
Well done on getting the grass cut Gers, mine needs doing but not today!
Good luck to your DS today Scarlet. I've already put away my summer clothes once this year - had to get them out again and iron everything!
What a busy day yesterday, put two coats of oil on the deck and power washed the front drive (I treated myself to a new jetwash so had to play with it!). Also spent a couple of lovely hours at the allotment - onions anyone? Washing all done, just a couple of dresses to iron. I was on the go from 8am until 7pm when I realised that apart from a sausage roll from a blue and white bakers I hadn't had anything to eat!
I have to go for more decking oil this morning, only in stock at a further away town which is a bit of a blow but this could be the last of our sunny and dry weather so needs must.
Hope you all have a peaceful Sunday, hugs to those struggling at the moment. Anyone heard from Nanny?
Take care. XX9 -
Morning, a wet one here.
Yesterday didn't go to plan. Going to the freezer to get the chicken out I found the door ajar and inside well frozen up. Goodness knows how it happened as like Scarlet I'm the only one who goes there. So, frantic emptying and defrosting went on. Oh helped and we managed to sort it out in a couple of hours. Only a few things were soft, some sausages (cooked for today), a couple of leftover portions of roast meat, also for today's dinner with veg, and some ice lollies beyond repair. So, all in all we were very lucky. So today's job will be the drawer of doom unless anything else happens.
Thinking of all the poorlies, hope things improve. Derek, hope you're ok.
Love to all x9 -
Morning everyone
It cheered up yesterday and I got all my washing dry, but by the time I went to sit outside the sunshine only lasted another half an hour then the fog rolled back in off the sea.
Little one had eaten all her meals yesterday without any pains in her tummy or being sick and the new prescription seems to be keeping her blood sugars up. At last!! I'm hoping she'll get discharged tomorrow....just over 3 weeks since she went back into hospital and 7 weeks since she first went in.
I just wish we didn't now have dad - and mam- in hospital. He's being kept in the big hospital 60 miles away and they are happy for mam to stay with him, when there's a bed free at our local hospital they will both get brought back in an ambulance and dad will probably be there for about 2 weeks. We have a visitor transport service I am booked onto today, a taxi will take me down from our hospital at 12.30 and bring me back at 4pm.
So this morning I need to go down to their house and sort all the stuff they need to take down with me.
Both my brothers are being no help whatsoever, with my eldest ignoring my messages altogether as he thinks dad should go to a care home. I have tried explaining that it's mams' choice not his - but am giving up for now!
I will continue keeping my sister in law up to date.
Thank you all so much again for your good wishes for little one and DD over the summer - all those crossed fingers have worked at last!
Hope everyone has a good day x10 -
Morning folks from a very misty Nidderdale. Yesterday was quite nice apart from a bit of drizzle. We had a run to Pateley for lunch and a wander.of the shops before DD and DGD headed home. Youngest.starts Renaissance in Leeds today (just Sundays) otherwise would have stayed another night with me.
Take care all (HUGS) for all.in need xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"8 -
Good morning everyone
I've been missing for a couple of days, not really had much to report other than doing some work outside. Fence painted and greenhouse shading removed. It's raining here and it looks set to stay all day but at the moment its not cold..
What's on the cards for today - not alot. Towels are in the wash and will be in the dryer later, I also have some cleaning to do. A freezer dive will be done to find something for my evening meal, maybe a curry will emerge.
Dp1- so pleased to hear little one is responding well and I hope your Ddad will improve too.
As always thoughts are with the sad and poorlies.
Take care x

Morning all, we've just had a bit of rain, still cloudy.Ah well the 2 sunny days we just had were most welcome. I had also put most of my summer stuff away, Camelot
British summer eh?
Off to watch DGD play her football match, hope she's up, she went to a friends party and sleep over yesterday afternoon. Yesterday we missed some trouble when we took DGS to his match, it was a bit further afield than usual. Some of our boys and parents were already there, and when we arrived, the boys came rushing up to us as DS2 was in charge yesterday, saying there'd been a big punch up in another match of older boys resulting in a bloodied nose for 1 lad and then the parents joined in tooThankfully the pitch allocated to us was much further away and the boys won so DGS was pleased. Once home we had a quick trip to the sm, I wanted cooking apples - they didn't have any! Had to make do with eating apples to go with the blackberries for 2 crumbles I made, but it's not the same. I also used some lo. chicken and gammon to make 2 little potato topped pies to freeze if DGD stays for tea. Busy afternoon!
@dp1 sorry to hear about your DDad, hope he recovers ok.Good news re little one though, she'll be so pleased to get home.Izzy, DH has been muttering about a chimney sweepRight better go and get ready, take care all.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Hi everyone,
Today is the first time I've had to post for days. Last week was full of childcare and then driving to Yorkshire to get Steve. It took me 6 hours for what should be an under 4 hour journey, on top of the childcare I was wiped. We then came over to Steve's sister's on the Wirral.
We'll have an early dinner with her son and family and then go home
Well done on your commission Allie.
Dp1, good news, poor little mite has gone through so much.
Have a good day.
