Lump Sums - payout dates ?

Hi,
For a couple one in the LGPS (inc AVCs) and one in the NHS pension scheme retiring on the same date, how long is it likely to be before the lump sums arrive in your accounts?
Where these sums are in excess of £20K it seems like it would be a good idea to get as much shifted into a tax free environment as quickly as possible - so ISAs I guess (PBs already at maximum holding).
Hence the original question as to get over £20K into ISAs you'd need to get some moved before the end of this tax year and the remainder in the new one - but without picking a retirement date way too early, as close to the end of March would be the preference.
Hope that makes some sense???
(What to do with all that cash next is another problem but that'll be another discussion for another day!)

My NHS one appeared in my account the first working day after my pension started - OH's was on the day.
I am afraid ours just got shifted to an NS&I direct saver account so didn't have to worry about splitting it up1 -
If fastest possible payment is an issue, then cease the LGPS AVCs at least a month before your retirement date. If AVC payments are left to run right to the wire, it can easily take a month for the funds to be applied to your account, before it can be finalised and disinvested.
Even then, your LGPS can't pay your lump sum and first pension payment without all the docs etc they need. ie, final pay details from your employer, disinvested funds from your AVC provider, etc. Allow at least a month. 2 months if you don't stop your AVCs early.1
