Does the conveyancer always need hard copies before completion?

Options
I was emailed the occupiers consent and mortgage deed forms to sign and return by post today (Friday) ready for exchange and completion on Monday.

Obviously once they have all all been signed and witnessed I will scan and email back. But it says to return by post so I am wondering if I should
a) drive the 7 hour round trip over the weekend to post them through the conveyance firms letter box
b) post via Royal Mail next day delivery on Saturday morning and hope it gets there Monday
c) I'm being silly and it won't matter if they arrive a couple of days after completion

Lender is HSBC.

Any advice or reassurance appreciated. Thanks

They will not exchange without originals. Mine did once because even though I sent it special delivery and I had the proof, it was delayed and she got special authorisation to do it because I had scanned it also.
It's unusual and they don't normally do it. We had lots of issues though buying ours so I think she went out on a limb as it wasn't our fault.

If exchange/completion is definitely a go for Monday then get then drive them there. Otherwise send them special delivery today and hope they arrive on Monday.

    Thanks.
It's a bit late for me now, but I've learnt a lot as a first time buyer and will certainly be doing things differently next time.

Just logged into HSBC and the mortgage is showing! I had assumed the hard copy requirement for mortgage deed and occupiers consent was for the mortgage.

The solicitor will draw down the loan funds before completion so that they are in their account ready for tomorrow. That happens even if they are also waiting for other things - completion will not happen if your solicitor doesn't have the principal deeds from you.

You still need the signed mortgage deed to be with the solicitor before exchange.
