I've been looking at e-bikes and was amazed when I discovered the amount of torque that an e-bike electric motor produces - as much as a car - up to 100Nm of  torque.......
the average is around 50Nm but some up to 120Nm
That is astounding.
That is roughly the same as a 1970's mini 1000
If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.

It is very impressive - but that’s a characteristic of electric motors. All that torque is available at very low speed - but reduces as you speed up…
I have a 12v Milwaukee impact driver that delivers 130nm and there are plenty of 18v drivers well over 200nm
my 2 tonne EV can beat most petrol cars (& a good few bikes) on the 0-30mph sprint too0

To be fair, a standard 250w motor is going to produce more like 40Nm of torque which is still plenty.
I suspect the ones producing 100+Nm are not going to be road legal.

ThanksI am still trying to get my head around Torque - They way that I see it - is as low revs / pulling power - my dad used to have "torquey" cars for pulling caravans - but the actual amount still amazes me !
