E: 15/09 Driving lessons for an apprentice in the construction trade
It’s not easy starting out on the tools – so much to learn, new skills to master and tea to make!
Now Fix Radio and Citroën vans are giving three trade apprentices a helping hand, by teaching them to drive! A lifelong skill to help with their development and keep your business moving.
We'll be checking in with participants throughout their journey to gaining their driving license with regular on-air content over the coming months.

Employer applications for this initiative are open to trades employers currently employing an apprentice via an approved government scheme, who has not attained their full UK driving license, is not currently taking driving lessons and has no pre-existing driving offences
Applications from apprentices are open to those currently participating in a government approved trades apprenticeship with a trades employer and has not attained their full UK driving license, is not currently taking driving lessons and has no pre-existing driving offences
Apprentices nominated to take part in the Apprentice Driving Force initiative must be eligible to undertake driving lessons and will be vetted by Citroën and Fix Radio, including interview by video call for a shortlist of up to 10 potential participants, from which the final 3 will be chosen
The aim of the vetting process is to ensure commitment to the initiative as well as to ensure participants are eligible to take part, comfortable with participation in media activities and appropriate representatives of the Citroën and Fix Radio brands
Apprentices who are selected to take part will be required to apply for their provisional license immediately, if they do not already have one
Employers and apprentices selected to participate in this initiative consent to regular broadcast check-ins, at approximately weekly intervals, to update on progress, experiences and development, including but not limited to:
Sharing of their name, home town, employer business name and circumstances at the point of beginning and throughout their progress towards gaining a driving license
Progress and learnings through their driver training
Audio and video recordings for use by Fix Radio, Citroën and third party media outlets
Individuals must commit to completion of their driving lessons and sitting their driving theory test within a three month timetabled timeframe, with the exception of circumstances beyond their control, and will be required to sit their driving test once their instructor believes they have reached the required standard
Participants will receive up to a maximum of 30 driving lessons from a local instructor selected by Citroën and Fix Radio and will have the cost of their driving test covered for a maximum of 3 attempts within a 3 month window from undertaking their first lesson. A driving test can only be undertaken once the instructor deems the participant to be ready.

Registration phase runs from Monday 2nd Sept 2024 00:00 to Sunday 15th Sept 2024 00:00. Registration may be extended at the discretion of Citroën & Fix Radio if sufficient suitable candidates are not found.
