A new journey…

The help here was invaluable when I was on a journey before having accumulated huge debt. Having saved up a deposit and had an increase in salary I’m in the lucky position of buying for the first time with my partner. The mortgage payments are significant but wanting to be savvy in paying off as much as I can as quickly as possible. Any tips gratefully received and I’ll track my progress here!

Check to see how overpaying your mortgage works. Some there's a limit, some the overpayments reduce the monthly amount. And start planning at least a year in advance of when the remortgage times approach to ensure you are in the best place to get the lowest interest rate.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Thank you @Brie - I think we’re allowed to over pay by 10% each year. Will definitely try to be well-prepared for when remortgaging comes up.0
