Personal Training

Options
I am thinking about doing a personal training qualification.   I have lost a large amount of weight using a combination of diet and exercise.  Taking a job as a personal trainer would allow me free access to my (very expsensive) gym and tennis club as well as a motivation to keep the weight off.  Does anyone have any experience in taking a PT qualification?  Ie how much it costs and how long it takes

My understanding is that most personal trainers are self-employed.

My exercise class teacher is a  PT and she gets by with a combination of personal clients, classes in different gyms, swimming instruction (she is a triathlete) and also part time doing exercise for older people in a care home. Sometimes  it’s taking the work where you can get it.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I also wonder whether in reality you would want to work out at a gym where you also work as a PT.

You may find you prefer to workout elsewhere without people (your bosses potentially) disturbing your workout to get you to cover a class etc., offer tips to newbies.

That said I think most PTs are freelancers.

I suspect that there are more Personal Trainers than there are customers to give a lot of PTs a decent sustainable income. A few years ago it was Reiki. Lots of people (women mainly) who had had Reiki decided to train to be a Reiki practitioner but there didn't seem to be enough other people needing that amount of Reiki.
