Capquest/Resolvecall/Intrum issues

Hi All,
could really do with a bit of advice on an old debt which has appeared from nowhere.
I received two letters (one from Resolvecall and one from Intrum) stating i owe 'x' amount for a bank which i have not banked with in over 20 years! i am not aware of any debt and have never acknowledged the debt (certainly not had any interactions with regards to this debt for the past 15 years i have been living at my current property).
i sent a 'prove it' letter to Intrum via recorded delivery which they signed for. Now, 3 weeks later i have have received a letter from Capquest (whoever they are?) stating that they have received my letter and that i have to contact Resolvecall as they are handling the account.
my question is around who should or shouldnt be proving this debt (in response to my 'prove it' letter). I was under the impression that Intrum should be the ones to prove it as they are the debt owner?
either way the letter from Capquest was 2 lines long and basically said 'we have received your letter, we have a number of companies handling our accounts, speak with Resolvecall', which i am hesitant to do. They have already visited my property AFTER Intrum had singed for my 'prove it' letter. I told them to hop it and that i had sent a letter to Inrum (they have not been back since).
any help or advice would be much appreciated.
at what point does this become harassment, when i have asked them to prove the debt and they have not offered any evidence yet have visited my property and i am now being passed back to Resolvecall.
thanks

This will probably die of its own accord. You have done the right think. It is clear that Crapquest have no idea what this is.
You could make this a formal complaint, give them 8 weeks then refer to FOS.
As for harassment, it is generally thought to have a high bar. However I do remember a case where Lowell failed to give up on a made-up debt, but picked on someone who was legally trained and he started a claim for harassment. Compared to what we often see, the case was mild. Nevertheless, Lowell were ordered to pay him, i think £3000+.0 -
Keep to having everything in writing and keep copies of everything you send them. Don't ring, text or email, just all by snail mail. Anyone shows up continue to tell them to boggle off. Certainly never let them in the house.
they should get tired and start picking on someone else eventually.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Intrum appear to have bought a batch of old statute barred debt and are now trying to milk it for all its worth.
Intrum recently bought Capquest and Mars Capital from Arrow Global, so they are one and the same company now.
They have engaged Resolvecall to manage the debt, however they still retain ownership and are therefore supposed to deal with issues of liability etc, but have failed to do so by "passing the buck" here.
Resolvecall can`t do didley squat with regard to this, so I would go with fatbellys suggestion and see if you can milk some money back off them by way of complaint.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. I had the same when I asked Intrum for a CCA. I think they have arranged it this way on purpose so they can delay the process of dealing with things.0
