Saddle rail coating - cosmetic or performance?

Hi

the coating of the saddle rail is peeling off probably because of the pressure from the clamp. Would it impact the performance or is it just cosmetic?

    Hard to see what you mean - looks ok to me - if you mean the little slither of silver on the left hand rail - yes that's just paint coming off - no effect on safety at all. If the metal is 'cheap' it might get a coating of surface rust over a period of time -- but nothing to really worry about.
