They seem to do what they like. Barclaycard were great and defaulted my account within a fee months and backdated the default so my credit report was harmed for the least possible time. Virgin on the othet hand were very difficult and made things ad hard ad they could for me by not defaulying for ober a year.jones_guitar said:I read some comments about some creditors not defaulting? Is there any guidance about when default should appear?0 -

They applied the default in October 2021 but set the default date to July 2021.0

But why? What was special about July?0

Presumably that's when he stopped paying?jones_guitar said:But why? What was special about July?0 -
July was when Stepchange told Barclaycard that I was starting a DMP. I made a mistake starting the DMP straight away but it never occurred to me that Stepchange would advise something that would cause unnecessary harm to my credit record. You live and learn as they say.

They can back date a default to when you stop paying?

They did for me. I've just looked back and the letter they sent me was dated September 2021 and the default date was July 2021. Barclaycard were exceptionally good in handling things, their letter told me not to worry and that they knew I was doing what I could. Some of the others have been more difficult, especially Virgin who were horrendous and took over two years to default me.jones_guitar said:They can back date a default to when you stop paying?0 -
I put in CCA requests. One never had my address. The other was just terms and conditions with my most recent address added. Not even an agreement, no date, signature, nothing.
