Anyone else inundated with scam calls from 01423 number?

The last two or three days, I've been getting lots of calls with the dialing code 01423. Googles says it's a lottery scam. I block the numbers, but they use different ones.
I've just ordered a new phone with Call Guardian, which should sort it out. Had one before. It stopped these calls 100%
I'm curious to know if others here are getting the same and if so, am wondering if it relates to a competition here.

We get all sorts but I also know that these calls are computer generated. I believe they bounce them around the phone system before they actually dial anyone so the number displayed has no relationship to the scammer and that's what makes it hard to block.
Others will say don't answer the phone if you don't recognise the number but that doesn't work with mobiles from Drs or the NHS who won't leave messages or even random friends you haven't heard from in a while.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. If you're registered with the TPS then you can raise a complaint against the number; however, if it's a game of whack-a-mole then they won't keep up.0

It's why I virtually never use my mobile number for comps, or for most things where I'm not sure it won't be sold on. It's bad enough getting these scum on my landline. It'll be fine when I get my new phone. The Call Guardian thing is fabulous. All known numbers get through, like normal. Unknown ones have to announce who they are, otherwise, I don't even know they've phoned. The scammers, obviously don't do that. Don't know if they do that yet for mobiles. Wish they did.
Thanks for responding.

About six months ago I went through a period of a couple of weeks where I was getting 7-8 calls a day from various 0161 numbers about a crash I had been in (I don't drive). I decided to humour one and kept him talking for about 20 minutes. I was telling him how it was only me and one passenger and how we were hit from behind and came off the road, how we were both injured but doing ok now etc. Then he started asking for vehicle details and when he asked for the registration I told him it didn't have one as we were on a skateboard. He swore at me and hung up and I don't think I had another one.
Can't say I've had any other scam calls since then.10 -

You have totally made my day. That is hilarious. Must've felt fabulous. A serious thought, if everyone did this, it might make them think again. I mean, imagine if everyone who knew it was a scam, kept it going for as long as possible. It would be like scamming the scammersWell done - Blu XXX

That's the thing for them, more calls equals more chance of successfully getting through to an unsuspecting victim. Therefore nothing seems to annoy them more than knowing that they've wasted their time with someone who was never actually going to fall for whatever scam it is they're trying to pull off that day.
Obviously you need to have the time and patience to do that yourself too.3 -
I will get back to you on that one - now I'm sat here longing for the phone to ring 😁

I also did similar with those scammers who tell you there is a problem with your line and want to access your computer. I told them I didn't have a computer or laptop. They asked me how I accessed the internet so I told the I used one of those vtech kids tablets. They soon hung up on me.
Best ones though were those email scammers saying I had been left millions by someone. I made up a daft address and egged them on a bit using the name Jack Spratt. When they wanted proof of passport I sent them a fake one edited with a photo of Mr Bean. And another where I supposedly won 1.5 million dollars I used the name Suzi !!!!!! Quantro with occupation being a live sex therapist 🤣6 -

Haha. It's great when you can sense their anger and frustration, as they realise they've been wasting their time and were never getting a penny out of you.3
