NHS back pay, change of trust

Does anyone know what will happen in this situation please?
I work for the NHS. I left my previous trust end of June and started at my current trust beginning of July. I believe the pay rise will be paid in October and backdated to April.
I thought my previous trust would pay the back pay for April until I left, but I can see on HMRC that the employment has ended. Will they still be able to pay it?

Yes. But you may need to ask for it. I'm in a similar position albeit local government. I retire next month but am due a pay increase from April. I've been told I have to ask for it, because if I don't they'll keep it! A previous employer can make payments, and you will get a "catch up" tax adjustment at some point.1

For most people getting smallish amount (less than £3.1k for monthly payroll) this will result in 20% tax being deducted. Which could well be the correct amount.1 -
Update in case anyone has the same question in future years.
The old trust automatically paid the back pay and issued a payslip with a 0T tax code. The new trust paid the back pay from when I started with them. Tax code for that one was non-cu.m (I think I've paid some tax at the higher rate this month) and the amount pushed it into the next pension band (not sure if that'll come down again)Debt Free: 01/01/2020

I moved trusts on 20th May 2024 and have chased the backpay on my salary for April and until 19th May 2024. Payroll have said they have paid everyone that is entitled to it and told me to register a query with their SBS helpdesk. I eventually managed to get through and they said "oh was you expecting backpay". They said we will have to pass it onto the payroll team. I am a nurse, surely I am entitled to back pay at my old trust as all I have done is changed trusts. They make it so difficult0
