Hi, I’ve just had a visit from someone from resolve call. I’ve had a few texts from them, and a letter, stating I had a debt with Alliance and Leicester, which my ex did in both our names many years ago, more than 19 years I think. I never had any part of this loan, the ex dealt with it all, or not as the case seems to be.
The chap at door asked me to confirm who I was, which I refused as he was not going to tell me what he wanted, I also declined giving him my phone number. He left me with a number to call. What do I do now.
Thank you.

Ignore them if the debt hasn't been paid for more than 6 years then it is statute barred and basically they can't do anything but if your name was on the loan they will try both people so just check any letters by snail mail.
I guess you do think the ex hasn't paid it in the last 6 years. If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0 -
Thank you. He went through a bad financial patch over 10 years ago, so I doubt this was paid off. It only had my name on the letter they sent, but I’ve never had an A and L bank account.0

They will have tried him as well, but you are probably easier in their eyes, it doesn't matter whether you had an A & L account if you were a joint name on the loan they can pursue you but at the moment leave it if they do contact you again you can ask them to prove it.If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.1

Thank you. So if they don’t to my house again, just refuse to talk to them.0

They are unlikely to make another visit.
When you next get a letter reply with a prove-it.
If it turns out to be what you think it is then send a statute barred letter
Did they say who they are working for? Is it PRA?1 -
He would only tell me where he was from, ResolveCall, as I refused to confirm who I was, so he wasn’t allowed to tell me what his purpose for the visit was.How would I get a statute barred letter and a prove it?0 -
