Hello people.
We are doing a Ruby wedding anniversary for my In-Laws in march.
And i would like to make some unusual balloon weights.
But the budget is very tight now really.
The tables will have candles, table confetti ,vase of cream and red rose buds.
Could you think of anything i could make or buy(very cheap)?
Thanks in advance
Claire

For big bunches of balloons, my balloon man uses a brick wrapped in foil. You could just do that and use some ruby ribbons and stuff to wrap the brick like a present?
Or somehow sew a brick into a cuddly toy? (It's getting late...).
Or make a ruby ball and chain (don't know how to do that)
Or a couple of boots weighted down and painted with or without the tin cans(on the basis that you traditionally tie boots to the back of the car)
Or a weighted papier mache wedding cake
Or s weighted papier mache bride and groom:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Filling things full of sand is the safest way and gives the most options ...even a red ballon filled with sand will hold down a table decoration
How many tables are you talking about ...maybe a small gift box with ribon round ..0 -
Don't know if it would work but how about weighting down some small decorative boxes (or cellophane gathered bags) with marbles?:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Try filling red balloons with water (about the size of a grapefruit) -
then wrap the balloons in cellophane
(I use a clear cellophane with white spots on - its very effective) -
gather the cellophane with red ribbons - these look really great and
work out quite cheap........xIf someone ain't smiling, give them one of yours !!!0 -
I went to a reception once where the balloons were weighted down by small gift boxes with stones in. Well no-one's bothered what's inside the box......Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked0

You can stick an empty (or full! more fun to pour!) bottle of wine on each table (if you're putting ones out anyway) and tie it round the top.Tim0

Any kids going? as you could use bubble bottles as a weight then let the kids have the bubbles to take home.0

get netting to form bags - fill these with "ruby" stones (just paint some pebbles up) and then it will go with the theme0

Thanks so much.
Ive now got some organza gift bags and some gold marbles.
Might print out a little pic of the in-laws cut in to a heart and attach it to the ribbon drawstring on the bag.0 -
Hi know you have the idea now but at work we use the little gift boxes with ribbon round they are then filled with pebbles to weigh them down, may help someone else!
Hope you have a fab day x0
