Universal credit carer's element couples AET

Options
I have a joint universal credit claim with my husband. I have just started claiming the carers element and have no work commitments but we still have to hit the couples AET. Is this correct? We assumed my husband would only have to hit the single one as I have no work commitments
Thank you

Correct. If your husband is in the All Work Related Requirements (AWRR) regime, then he will only be required to hit the single AET threshold (£892) to move into the Light Touch regime.
Or he could move into Light Touch if your combined household earnings are over the Couple AET threshold of £1437 (if you were also working). Whichever threshold he meets will move him into the Light Touch regime.

So if he's earning £1000 a month he should be in Light Touch? The work coach is saying he will only go into Light Touch if we hit the £1437. What can we do about this if it's wrong

It's automated, so it doesn't much matter what the Work Coach says. When the earnings feed through from the employer, the UC system automatically places the claimant into the appropriate work group regime based on their earnings. If his earnings are above £892 then he should be in Light Touch.
Has he currently agreed commitments around work with a work coach? He will know if his work group has changed as he will be required to accept a new set of commitments for Light Touch that are automatically generated by the system and just expect him to log in regularly, complete a.ny actions in his ToDo list and to report and changes of circumstance (nothing about looking for work).

One caveat.  Self-employed earnings won't move someone into Light-touch.
